I went to Concordia when Paul J. Christensen was the conductor. We practiced our instruments in what we called the "Sheep Barn". They only allowed "The Concert Choir " perform at Christmas concerts. Now the Cobber choirs etc. are all allowed to sing. My sister played her violin in the Fargo/Moorhead orchestra as Concordia didn't have an orchestra. Times have changed. My first year of college in 1956-57 cost me $900 I paid for it myself and remember working in both the cafeteria and biology lab.

What is a Cobber choir? I'm not familiar with the term.
@pneumanaut119 күн бұрын
I was a Cobber from 1981-1985. I never sang with any of the choirs, but I was a faithful audience member. I now live in Calgary AB and it’s my dream to journey back once more to be in the audience once more.

@@PatroniFan”Cobber” is our mascot - all Concordia students are Cobbers. The story goes, they started the school in a corn field. Moorhead State University (which is about 2-3 blocks away) would mock us by calling us “cobbers” (corn cobs) … we embraced the term and turned it into the name of our teams and how we identify ourselves. Our mascot’s name is Kernel Cobb. 🤣

I attended Concordia College from 94-96, transferred from Waldorf College in Forest City IA. I sang in Chapel Choir and the Christmas concerts were always the highlight of my academic year. I am an international student from Sierra Leone. My only disappointment in the choir lack diversity which the college should prioritize.

Sacred Christmas music is embedded with the gospel. Being able to text & share videos like this to neighbors & friends is a way to do a little subtle evangelism.😊

I was a freshman at Concordia in 1970. I remember hearing the choir for the first time. I was amazed and still am every time I hear the choir. Love it! I sang in the Christmas concert in 1970 in the women's choir. I didn't pursue music but still love it.

@@DogwoodRicky049 Thank You! Thank you so much. This is the one I wanted to hear! Both versions are beautiful! It took some searching. There's a new melody for the hymn but it is possible to find a choir singing beautiful renditions of this old Hymn.
