Thank you for showing how to do this. It's a much needed repair in many older homes, especially from the outside where there was no water barrier prior to a certain year.

this is a cool project for your channel Mike!!! you know i've been a long long long time fan and sub on both my UTUBE accounts. I say to all of you ... don't do that music over the work. Voice over or SPEAK to the project. The music is not a strength. You speaking over what people are seeing is the STRENGTH. not this general music. Hope you guys all have a perfect weekend. One of my fav channels.

Was that from ice popping or fork lift, because all that block in the area (white) is showing water damage. Here the building inspectors will jump all over that, make fix the water issue and replace all the blocks.

That patch certainly isn't going anywhere, especially with them screws in there. But as a mason, I would just throw some type S mortar in there, squeeze it up against the edges with my bricklaying trowel and then dress it up to look like block. Do that by rubbing it with a piece of block after it sets up a bit. Done in 10 minutes, start to finish.
@63flight
@63flight 2 жыл бұрын
A real mason would just clean out what you can and lay 4" ' block back in there or 3" or what ever fits. Not slap a bunch of whatever in there. So much easier and quicker.

@@63flight I've been doing 'all kinds' of masonry work since 1985 (Brick, Block, and Stone. Residential, Commercial, and Industrial. Big Jobs and Small Jobs). If your dumb ass wants to pay to replace the block, then the block can be replaced. But why do that when I (or any mason) can make it look like a real block in a matter of minutes.?. Most 'normal people' would choose the latter.. Mike here is a concrete man, and a very good one at that, And I Appreciate Him Very Much. But I can tell by this patch, he's not much of block mason, and/or maybe he is trying to sell this product.?.. I'm Not criticizing anybody or anything, just being honest with my thoughts from my perspective. Which is the purpose of 'comments'. ... And Yes, I would 'slap' that b*tch in there like nobody's business!😅

Great video! May I ask why you add the screws in the beginning?

It’s like putting rebar in. it helps keep the repair from moving as it is setting up kinda like fastening two pieces of wood together it pretty much anchors the repair in because once the cement cures fully the screws will help hold it in place best way I can explain it lol

Why not use a little premixed? Expanding Foam to fill the hole and premix fill the rest. Exactly the same and less work

You could have cut the face off a new block then cut out the mortar bed and head joints and damaged block replaced with the new one and tuck pointed it back in.

That wall is crumbling because it’s under lateral pressure from water. While I applaud the repair, this is a bandage on a bullet hole.

Great techniques but, I don’t think I could afford the bill. So instead, I’d put a full size, cut-out, dart board figure of ‘O-Biden’, in front of the damaged area. Naw, I’d pay the bill first. Know what I mean! Again, great video!
