Johnette is able to portray the full dynamics of an entire band with her voice alone. She is a true artist with her instrument.

My absolute favorite live act. Concrete Blonde are such a gift, with James' atmospheric and hauntingly beautiful chord progressions, and either Paul or Harry on the skins, both consummate professionals. The Blonde would not ever be so awesome if it weren't for the mad pipes of the enchanting Johnette Napolitano. I have seen her twice with CB and once with Pretty and Twisted, and she never disappoints live. While most singers take the low road, trying not to strain their voices on tour, Johnette live strives for improvisation and higher and longer high notes. She is a marvel, and one of rock's greatest vocalists.

why don't you think the band didn't become bigger than they were? I remember buying a few of their records in the late 80s and thought for sure they would be playing much larger venues but it never seem to come to pass.

@@LordGreystoke I couldn't agree more, I thought they had everything going for them. The number of times I've seen 'under-rated' attached to acts that were actually not really under-rated, or simply weren't actually that good to begin with, but this is the one time it is a legit claim! They had the song writing, crafting fine, attmospheric, powerful, meaningful tunes, a tight three and four piece, personality and presence of delivery and Johnette's belting vocals, with an ability to go from a ascream to emotionally fragile, but always with passion and sincerity, capable of taking any cover version and making it their own. Why, why, WHY are they not world famous stars?

Johnette basically refused to deal with the music business. Listen to the words of True. That's what it's about. She was too TRUE to play their games or deal with their shit or let them exploit her or their music. But that is the mark of a pure artist. I hope somehow their music will keep spreading. She and Mankey are lightyears beyond most of the vocalists or guitarists out there. Love them always and forever.

Just amazing. Lucky enough to have seem them maybe a dozen times. First time in Memphis in '89 when they played the legendary Antenna Club hanging 3 or 4 feet from the stage from Johnette and James. Life long fan ever since. They both are legends. 🌹🌛🌒☀🌹

How we ended up with auto-tune defies all sense... Johnette needs to rise up and take them all to school.

When Johnette and Jim teamed together acoustically we got pure magic...kind of like her way of release to unleash the power of her brilliant vocal delivery and Jim's lovely, expressive tonal playing.

Ok.....Is this in Toronto at The Horseshoe? If so, I was here for the encore that would have been Mexican Moon. Sadly I missed all of this due to me just not knowing when it started. They did an interview earlier in the day at a radio station and I sat and watched it. A girl I knew tipped me off that they were gonna be there and you could just be there early and they would let 15 or so in. We all got passes for the show and signed 8x10s. She said " I'll tattoo your name on my arm, and wrote To Greg on her arm in the picture. Still have both them. Gonna go dig them up right now. This is super cool!

@@e.stoveken8153, thank you for educating me. As a 49-year-old music lover, I feel like I should have known that. Concrete Blonde have been my favorite band since I was 16. I was fortunate enough to see them in 1994, at the peak of their power and reach.

@22;00 -25;00 So thats what the industry has come to? ? Cover the Stones any time, its respectful and almost your duty, But share a snippet of a queen song and the bean counters will censor your life. You tube has issues. Concrete Blondes music will always be better than Queens imo.
