You did great even with a help of a rookie. It is quite difficult to pour concrete with one and a half person. I'm in France and you inspired me with your videos, because here they don't do finished concrete, they usually just poor and cover with stone or tiles, so I have made some jobs with finished concrete, and they were very impressed of the final product. Thanks for sharing your work with us.

Hello David, I don't concrete work all the time being a general contractor, I'm a stone mason by trade. But when I do, on your recommendation I got a medium nylon brush, and if you're careful it leaves a nice anti slip finish without being to course. At the moment I'm doing a farm yard area with stone cobbles to get my slopes to the drains for my concrete to fall to, and also it makes nice manageable areas for me to deal with on my own, it's also the look my customer came up with for me to work with. My slabs are around 7 inches thick with 1/4 inch rebar sheets set up on dobies. There will be heavy trucks every now and again on it. I'm lucky because I can always get the truck up to the areas I'm going to pour that day which is good. In England the concrete strength I use is a C 35. It's a nice mix that seams to do well with without any problems. Atb David 👍🙂

Nice work. The slab looks great. I have two questions: 1). Why didn't you pour the slab at the same time that you poured the garage? 2). I'm curious why you didn't install dowels into the garage slab to help prevent the two slabs from separating over time. Thanks.

Very nicely done. I would have first put a termite protective layer below the slab and used 4500 per stone. At the entrance put a double 5/8 rear and 8x8 footer 12x12 inches being overkill. Wish you had a back up buffer or power wash for trowel. Like to see the boards removed.

I dont like any broom finish.. even outdoors... but horsehair all the way if you must... The nylon digs deep scars and if you're out there with a jack and under a car working, its just painful. Horse hair gives you a lighter texture that isnt painful and still some slip resistance... But I like it burnt black.... SMOOOOOTTTHHHHHH But I am down in Phx, where we average 5-7" of rain a year... so very RARE to get rain and its in big bursts... So no one is outside anyways... lol. But my garage in my new build house with a post tension slab, they burned it black troweling it out so good.... I LOVE IT!!! I just hate the wet joints in the center, so a giant PLUS in the middle. Working on cars and jack over that giant wet joint sucks bad. When I get out there to clean out the garage, I want to fill the joints in and make them smooth and flat and then do an epoxy coating over the entire floor.... Got a HUGE garge, had it extended and widened since I am out there all the time.

David, does it matter how long you wait, til you make the saw cuts?…Also, I just had a new driveway put in, on my new construction home. When they got down to the end of the driveway, they dug it down deeper, didn’t even tamper anything down!…And finished the pour. I was sick when I seen that. Any idea why they would do something like that. They never put any steel of any sort when they poured either!…Thanks for all your help. Love your channel.
