Tons of info on the 7.3's online. I would recommend checking the connectors going into the valve covers first. It is very common for them to get brittle and to come unplugged or short out due to leaking oil through the connector port. Running the lightweight oil might have destroyed the high pressure oil pump also. It has been a long time but if I remember correctly 15-40 has to be used for 7.3's. I have seen them towed in with no-starts for running thinner oil back in the day. Installed correct weight oil, and they would fire right up. The brake controller is straight forward on most. Blue wire is for trailer. Check to see if it matches the same pin on your seven way trailer plug and truck.

Put an edge around those trees with a flat edging shovel when mulching. Helps with washout with the yard being so wet, and looks nice to the eye. Don't want to tell you what to do, but thats standard with all of our mulch jobs. Can do the same thing with the concrete island, just push the edge into the center to prevent any washing.

Mike, in my experience if the trailer brake controller isn’t sensing the trailer that’s most likely due to a short. It could be another issue but that’s where I would start.

Good luck with the Furd and the trailer brake. I know on my GMC, that speedo problem was the trans axle failure. The sensor was magnetic and capturing metal from the drive chain. Yikes.

The 7.3 most likely has a cam sensor going out that is the most common complaint with intermittent cutting out like that I always keep a motorcraft sensor in the glove box with a 10mm

Don’t know what year your truck is but if it’s a ford diesel before 2004 it may have a mass air flow sensor that needs to be cleaned using mass air flow sensor spray. Good luck in fixing the rough running. P.s. when you floor it many engine computers typically go to open loop tuning and don’t rely on sone of the engine sensors that may have failed so the engine may run better at WOT

A little advice here. Secure your loader properly. You cannot use just one chain on a piece of equipment like that esp only across the boom the way you have it. You have to have it secured in all four corners with a chain across the boom. The way you have it, if you came to a sudden stop the whole machine will literally flip out of the trailer and land on top of you and keep going. If you don’t believe me google it. You must have damn few cops around there to get away with all the things you guys do. That would never fly anywhere else.
