26 years owning a carpentry business .... I've had up to 7 man crews (some yrs...). But I learned over time that working smaller jobs that earned ME more profit, was the way to do IT !! (and with a lot LESS stress on me) .

I am 65 and 15 yrs into that hunt ! I finished one career and loved carpentry my entire life and Dad was a home builder , trained union commercial carpenter. He told me stay small and do finish carpentry ! Still a struggle but better that dragging 3/4 ppl along who you hv to be responsible for as a licensed contractor ! Keep that nail gun oiled or the battery fresh!

The only time we removed mulch we did it with pitch forks rakes and shovels... we were removing mulch from beds in front of condo units... each area was about a half yard or little more but 190 units..., if your in a big Open area maybe a mini excavator with a grading bucket. No matter your gonna have hand work... good luck
@lukemarks924 ай бұрын
I agree its a 2 man job. Mini excavator with grading bucket. You can fill wheelbarrows. Then run them to the loader bucket. (If load is not attached) I LOVE the mini X. Get comfortable on one and it makes excavation/shrub removal/irrigation repairs so much easier. I think mike is on to the real answer though. The vaccumm should work. I know people use them to suck up ALOT of mulched leaves. That would by far be the easiest. However ask people who your renting it from how long of hose you can run. To far it might not be able to make it back. Also a mini skid with a bigger light material bucket works awesome in tandem with a mini X. We use a bobcat mini loader. Rip out all shrubs with a chain. It extends so you can dump in the middle of the trailer. Just like mikes loader but mini. Doesnt tear up sod. Its a game changer!! Can move B and B trees with easy. Rips out big trees/football with chain as well. When your looking to upgrade your loader mike. Look into a bobcat mini loader
@danthetruckandequipmentman4 ай бұрын
Im just not sure what kind of vac he was thinking of.. I wouldn't use my leaf truck vac it would probably work but blowing into whatever he is gonna use would make a hube mess and he gonna have to clean that.. when we Zach up leaves into the back of our dump trucks the dust from the leaves makes a huge mess alone, but it's not too bad you could just blow it off, but I'm not sure what kind of mess the mulch would make. I think mini excavator and no matter what you're going to be doing the touch up work with rakes and shovels. Good luck Mike love watching the videos I love adding my two cents every once in a while I always wanted to start my own KZbin channel did one video never actually edited the video just put it up... maybe I'll give it a shot again one of these days, but in the meantime, all keep watching you and Ryan, and tell him myself I really gotta do this
@bobridgeway58504 ай бұрын
Best way to remove that amount of mulch is by hiring a couple day laborers from Home Depots parking lot and letting them do it.
@preppedupproper2624 ай бұрын
15years+ owning a lawn care and landscape company in your area and would be happy to take a look at the mulch removal job with you. My advice site-unseen is to recommend tilling the top layer as another alternative to removing the mulch due to the likelyhood of damaging plant/ tree roots, or hitting an internet cables when removing it. You can really only remove so much before making a mess of weed fabric too... Once the top layer is tilled up the color is rejuvenated and allows the mulch to decompose further. Ego+ multi-tool with a 9" tiller is what we use for that, and would rent it if you're interested.. I also have a small debris loader for sale

Being current with your videos has its appeal, but a more consistent upload schedule, once or twice a week, is better for your channel growth. That will allow you to space out content when you have less going on, and not be overwhelmed with editing when you are really busy in the warm weather. Daily updates on Shorts could go alongside as well.

Hey Mike, do you have any advice for someone that wants to start up there own lawn service?
@User-yy6xt4 ай бұрын
I know you kids hate advice and take it as an insult but you wouldn’t get old if you don’t take advice. 1 DO NOT get under a trailer or truck bed when it’s raised up unless you have at least one steel brace supporting it. If you are under it when the hydraulics fail you will die. 2 Do not advertise the fact you are driving equipment that is about to fail and you know it can break the next time you drive it. If it does and you get in an accident you are in more trouble than if they have no proof you didn’t know. But now every one knows you drive heavily loaded trucks that are ready to break. 3 Do not use one chain or strap to tie down anything. 4 Do not use the hand grips on a machine to chain to and do not use one binder you want to pull in both directions on both corners and at least one chain binder on the back. If you only chain the front it can flip out of the trailer and totally ruin your day. 5 Do not assume the price you charge decides if you get the job or not. People decide by who impresses them the most and after watching your videos I would not hire you no matter what you charge. That’s not hate that’s advice. It’s up to you how you choose to see it.
@User-yy6xt4 ай бұрын
Also too anxiety is not normal. Just because everyone is feeling now it’s not normal nor is it healthy. If you have feel it go to the doctor and get it treated or smoke more weed. It causes bad things like strokes and other health issues if you don’t take care of it.
