They want cush jobs in front of a computer and or not enough schools who actually teach this kind of work. So yeah you can you look at it through different lenses. How many kids in elementary could repair a flat tire on a bike and or change a bicycle chain. Not very many. Most parents are at fault so that's why you have what you call illegals. Who do you blame. 🤷

It's nice work but I hope the county realizes this is just the first step in controlling that hillside. Erosion control above the ditch is the next step. And constant maintenance to keep the channel clear would be the third step. The forth step is periodic inspections to make sure water isn't cutting a new channel behind the "J". That soil/concrete interface on the high side is where failure will first appear. Because as far as the water runoff is concerned, there are two directions of "down" on this project - across and into the J channel, as well as along the length of the J channel. And any little void in the soil on that high side interface will be water's opportunity to start cutting it's own new path.

70’s and 80’s I worked making Faro Cement boats. My only job was to run the hose behind the gunner. I would be in charge of maybe 2 to4 guys to assist pulling hose. We had to work inside out of the boat and outside in and never allow the hose to kink and always leave the hose touching the ground behind the gunner. Did this so the gunner did not have to pull, drag and held only 2.5 feet to3 feet of hose all day. Some boats were 2 3 bag mixers and pump mounted units. Paid cash and made a crap load of money. Price of wire went up and cement boats lost the love. God it was a blast while it lasted.

Really professional job on that j-ditch. I didn't realize you could form concrete into a curve. As a DIY homeowner, I'd like to do make a 15 foot asphalt berm to keep the rainwater from the street from flowing into my driveway (house on the downslope side of a hill). I'll give it a try and see if it works.

The surveyor in this case is actually putting in the final elevations on stakes, not just "getting data". The drone can't pound stakes into the ground and mark them.

I see you finally got the hose out of his hands😆. I just suscribed to your channel and you work the concrete like a BOSS!! I worked pouring concrete in Spain and for ditches we make the J, V, or U templetes, set them in the ditch about a meter and half away and than you pour the concrete every other one, simply let them dry and come back the next day and finish the one's that were not poured or do them all the same day. Pouring every other one is easier as two guys, one on each side can work the concrete up the walls.
