Hi Jeff I’m in a 4 season location. I poured a concrete patio by making individual stone slabs (kind of a flagstone look). What is the best option for avoiding winter cracking of the concrete stones? I will be filling the gaps between the stones with stone dust, so curious if I should be sealing the sides of the stones as well. FYI - stones are about 1 3/4” thick and average about 1.5 sq ft of surface area per stone. Embedded in each stone is a 1” welded wire mesh fencing to act as a crack inhibitor. Thanks for the video and any advice you can offer.

Thanks for the comment! Sounds like a cool project! I would recommend sealing the stones with our D-One sealer. It'll leave a low-sheen, natural look, but still bring out the color of the concrete. You can seal the sides if you want, but it's not necessary if they're gonna be covered up with the joint filler. Keep in mind that concrete sealer is more for protecting the surface, and doesn't do much for preventing cracking. Concrete can crack for a verity of different reasons. Proper thickness & mix design, a solid sub-base, reinforcement, and proper control joints will all help reduce cracking, but won't completely eliminate them. I'll leave a link to the D-One page on our website below. Thanks for watching Deco-Crete TV!!! www.deco-cretesupply.com/products/decorative-concrete-sealers-solvent-based-sealer/d-one-5-gallon

I have a 3 year old concrete basement I want to seal with super durable matte finish. Kids ride bikes, trikes electric carts etc on floor. What do you recommend?

Thanks for the comment! The very best thing for this would a two part coating, but that would require grinding the floor first and it would be quite a bit more expensive than a sealer. For an easier DIY option, we would recommend an acrylic (topical) sealer. Because it's in your basement, a water-based option would be best due to the high odor of solvent based sealers. I'll leave a link to a video explaining the difference between sealers and coatings as well as a link to our D-Guard WB 25 sealer page on our website. Hopefully this helps! I'm in Buffalo New York and every quote I've gotten so far has been with an acrylic seal. I found your website because the last guy just came out and said it's insane to use acrylic in the weather we get with the snow blowing and the snow salt. He says he would never even consider acrylic on a brush driveway. I'm shocked that this is the first I've heard of after getting four quotes. I cannot thank you enough for this very clear and detailed video. It's left me wondering more about the hybrid solution so in your next video you should spend a few minutes on that specifically I think it would generate some interest.

Thank for the feedback!! The hybrid sealers are great for stamped concrete and broom finished patios, sidewalks, pool decks, ext.... But I would sick to penetrating sealer on driveways. Thanks for watching Deco-Crete TV!!!

Hey thanks for the video. I'm looking for a sealer that would protect a driveway from oil leaks. What do you recommend? It would also be nice if it is DIY friendly, but I want your opinion!
@DecoCreteTV
@DecoCreteTV 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment! Our #1 driveway sealer is D-Shield. It is DIY friendly and very water-repellant. It will help protect your concrete against oil stains, but like any other concrete sealer, if oil is left on the surface for a long period of time, it will eventually find its way through the sealer and into the concrete. Even after it's sealed you should try to wash the oil off of the concrete as soon as possible, or put some oil dry on it as soon as you notice it. The D-Shield will help keep the oil out of the concrete better than any other, but it can only do so much. I'll leave a link to our how-to video on D-Shield and one to the sales page on our website. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks for watching Deco-Crete TV!!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKWQdKitqaiEfac www.deco-cretesupply.com/products/water-based-sealers/d-shield-5-gallons

Thank you so much for your videos. Always learn something. Can you please touch more on using acrylic sealers as a curing compound? Just roll on next day? Haven't heard much about that. Thanks again!
@DecoCreteTV
@DecoCreteTV 6 ай бұрын
You are welcome! Thanks for the comment! When using acrylic sealer as a curing compound, you would normally spray it on the same day as pouring. The general practice would be to finish the concrete, pull the forms, clean up, and then spray the cure as the last thing before you leave the job site. This is mostly for broomed or smooth finished concrete. Stamped concrete is little different, most stamped concrete never gets cured like this, it just gets sealed after a week or two. I'll leave a link to our Curing vs Sealing video below. Thanks for watching Deco-Crete TV!!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJCTlnypnMxlpsU

We build a fence with pillars capped by pre-case concrete pier caps. what kind of sealant to use for them? based on this video looks like the penetrating sealant option is best to maintain the color and protect from the elements right?

Thank you loving your videos. Has helped me tremendously. Is it possible to apply a penetrating sealer down then apply an oil based acrylic sealer (matte finish) over the top (waiting enough time in between of course), in in order to get the best of both worlds?
@DecoCreteTV
@DecoCreteTV Ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment! It is possible to apply an acrylic sealer over a penetrating sealer, but it can be a bit risky as acrylic sealer can have a tough time bonding after the penetrating sealer has been applied. Our D-One sealer would serve the same prepose without trying to bond two different kinds of sealer together. It does leave a film behind, but it also has a water repellant that penetrates into surface of the concrete. This will give the best of both worlds. Here's a link to the D-One page on our website. Just wondering what you would recommend for an internal heated concrete floor with a minimum gloss appearance? Thank you
@DecoCreteTV
@DecoCreteTV 4 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment! What is floor being use for? If it's a garage floor or something that's gonna get heavy use and wheel traffic, you might be better off with a two-part floor coating instead of a sealer. This would be quite a bit more expensive and require a diamond grind before applying the coating, but these coatings would not ware away like concrete sealer. If you do end up going with a sealer, our D-One would be the best thing. I'll leave a few links you can check out. We had the apron of our driveway poured 2 years ago. The thing pitted and just turned to junk from the salt from the plows. I am getting it redone in a few weeks. What product would you recommend to use for this to keep it in the best shape possible for as long as possible?

Thanks for the comment! We would recommend our D-Shield penetrating sealer for this. There is no way of eliminating damage from salt, but D-Shield will give you best protection possible. To get the most protection out D-Shield, we recommend letting the concrete cure out for at least 30 days before applying the sealer. I'll leave a link to our how-to video on D-Shield as well the sales page on our website.
