Florida had sunken living rooms in some houses. I've see 2 houses with sunken living rooms and part of the house in terrazzo and rest of house in hard wood floors. The house across the street built in 1978 has a sunken living room.

Not sure about the cling film used as a vapour barrier.
@zrunner800

If I needed a vapor barrier there I wouldn’t approve of that plastic but I don’t really think it’s necessary. As a bond breaker? Sure. No issue there and I think that’s the value this adds. Personally I wouldn’t install one unless the original concrete floor had detectable moisture issues.

Your jobsites are well organized and neat and your equipment appears clean and cared for all great signs. I noticed you are using concrete with a lot of water (loose). Dryer (less water) mixes equal more strength for concrete pours besides why pay for water concrete is sold by the yard so the less water the more value you and your clients are getting while reducing the time to start and complete finishing. Great careful execution of a small job your customers are well served by choosing your firm. I did not see any epoxy used on dowel pins they seemed interference fit (driven) I always use larger holes with epoxy to eliminate any risk of future spalling from oxidation of dowels and my building code usually require a cementitious bonding agent for dowel pins. Hey what do you think about James? - Don't you hate when there's not one person on the job site that knows what the heck they're doing or understand anything about their products. He just hires some half wits That get the job done but do not get the job done correctly A lot of his concrete spider cracks and then he leaves the customer holding the bag I can't believe no one has taken his wife's contractor's license 😂

I poured hundreds of house foundations in Florida back in the 80s. Only a hand full of them had sunken living rooms. They were thought to be very high end back then. I have filled in a couple as well. Like you said. It takes forever to set up. In FL the humidity is high so takes a long time for all that bleed water to evaporate.

Sea water or salt water will eventually start rusting out the r bar inside from the salt content in the water. If your ever in Guam you can see the result of using sea water in the mix. All conc homes from 30 /40 years ago with r bar rusting out and the conc falling off in chunks.

If the reason for stating that this concrete will not crack is because that the rebar you installed here will stop that from happening, good luck with that. Those rebar @ 2’ will play no role whatsoever in that regard. Zero, nil. You have no idea whatsoever how reinforced concrete works. Stop telling bs.

🤩first off it's number #3 rebar, second rebar supports tensile strength, saying it won't crack is a double entendra✌️because a wood floor is going on top of the concrete. So nobody will ever no if it cracks😆

Good video, I worked in fly ash in Australia and there the ash has a greater than 100% cement equivalence and the concrete keeps getting stronger forever. It’s all dependent on the mineralogy of the coal and the processing of the ash. US fly ash is pretty crappy. There are also some companies developing volcanic ash products for bulk concrete..
