The Emperor is honestly pretty good to Hailan even though she is supposedly not favoured. He was furious at Jia, but he only physically intervened when she attacked Hailan. Feels like he listens to Hailan even more than he does to Ruyi which is ironic when Hailan doesn't even love him that much, if at all, and would never put him above Ruyi.

I've watched clips of this scene so many time but I still watch them whenever they appear. It's so satisfying that Jin Yuyan gets called out and finally punished. The other imperial harem ladies being vocal is great to see, even quiet Concubine Wan has something to say. And Hailan being badass is always awesome.

I love the details where we see the difference between how Hailan and Jia swear oath. Hailan swears looking at the emperor straight in the eye, while Jia is unable to even when she "swears."

This entire sequence was so SATISFYING. Consort Jia finally gets the Karma she so richly deserves. All her schemes for her maiden clan and for the love of a prince she could never be with. It's a shame that her sons (including the still born infant)had to pay the ultimate price for her evil deeds.

Probably due to palace protocol and Qianlong being there, they need to follow the rules 😅 While with Empress meeting, the protocol might be ignored a bit as long as they follow the ranks, like Chun and Jia sit nearest to Ruyi, Yanwan and Hailan exchange during Ruyi's meeting probably due Yanwan hates her abuser (At least Jia is nice towards her loyal servants like Zhenshu and Lixin) and Hailan is Hailan 🤣🤣
