Neats foot cream is what I used 90% of the time on my leather products. It does not darken the leather.
@adkmtns57263 жыл бұрын
It does not darken leather in most cases, but it does eventually cause damage to the leather (as it oxidizes) eventually destroying it, and it rots the laces (it is acidic).
@AgonxOC3 жыл бұрын
@@adkmtns5726 as with any leather care products, you have to apply them when needed. A lot of things react to O2 and cause oxidation. We oxidize as well. Use neatstoot appropriately!
@adkmtns57263 жыл бұрын
@@AgonxOC Agreed yes. I guess I was just looking at the long term. Many would see this video and use this cream every time they condition their boots. That would lessen the life of the boot.

A safety note about throwing your boot rag in the washer...I've heard that it's dangerous to put heavily oily rags in the wash because they can catch fire due to static sparks in the dryer. An oily, waxy cotton rag is pretty darn flammable. Might be better to just get a new rag when the old one is spent! P.S. Awesome video! Red Wing Leather Cream is the product I chose to give my new (gently used) 8111s some love. Happy to report that it did not darken the leather more than a fraction of a shade.

I would have liked it if you'd cut to them fully dry and compared the shots so we could see that it didn't darken as it looks a lot darker straight after application. Does this conditioner contain waxes and make water bead up on them to protect the leather?

i've got the 8085 and 8084. i have not conditioned the rough and tough yet. are there any other oils that you would use or recommend to protect the copper rough and tough more than just the cream - that will not darken it too much? i used the cream on the 8084s, but didn't like how they looked. it left kind of a haze on the black leather that wouldn't buff out, especially around the stitching and cap toe, no matter how much i tried to buff it out with a brush. i ended up just taking a wet t-shirt to it to remove that haze. obviously the cream is not good for the black iron rangers. what do you suggest for them? different conditioning should be used for the two boots. no?

Michael, I too have the 8084 as well as the 8085 ordered and on their way. I used the leather cleaner first on my 8084’s and then the leather cream, mind you my 8084 are only 3 weeks old so I probably should’ve just left them alone, but I know what you mean about the leather cream on the 8084’s, it sort of left a haze to them, I also ended up using way too much I turned out as I got caught in a rain storm and my boots started to literally leak the white leather cream, hence I used too much. Also, I noticed my rags I used, which were both brand new micro fibers from Costco, sort of turned black from the cleaner as well as the leather cream, called Redwings and they said it was normal with the first conditioning and it was dye bleed off? My 8084’s look fine now though 🤷♂️

Cobbler could stretch the instep easily. No more than $40. For the free 99 method, use gallon freeze bags and feel them up with water, line the boots and leave them in the freeze over night. Wear them as much as you can the following days.
