As a 52 years old french guy, I used nearly all Saphir products including outdoor and « medaille d’or » for more than 35 years. Not being patriotic at all, these are excellent care products. The oiled leather cream comes in natural and does a good job on Copper R&T like RW neatsfoot one. CRT being nucbuck it is safer to use RW foam cleaner or Saphir « Omni’daim/Omni nettoyant » than saddle soap. These are milder and won’t get rid of the oils contained in CRT but won’t clean the black stains like the ones on the heel counters or front toes. There is a tradeoff in any process. I would have let them dry overnight before conditioning in order to not trap water in the nubuck. Thanks for sharing your enthousiasm and knowledge. I too apreciate the pressure relief provided by shoe caring on weekends.

I have a couple pairs of the Irish Setter Wing Shooter mock toe boots I wear as my work boots. I’ve had the soles replaced with Vibram lug soles. It made a good boot a great boot. I haven’t tried the Redwing conditioner. I clean them every week using Saddle soap and Saphir leather renovateur conditioner. It seems to work really well.

Hi there Ed! Sounds like you ended up with some solid boots there with the resole! Sounds like your conditioning routine is working well. You treat your boots better than most! Do they get dirty enough to need the weekly care? What line of work do you use them with? Trucking? Thanks so much for watching the videos. More coming soon!

@@GentlemansJourney , I deliver heating and cooling equipment. And a lot of times it’s to new construction sites with Dirt lots and sometimes muddy. The dirt likes to dry the leather pretty quickly so I like to clean them every week. It’s something, I really enjoy doing. And it will help keep the boots lasting for a long time.

Awesome video, extremely informative and well researched. For my casual boots I use the red wing foam cleaner and leather cream or all natural conditioner depending on how dry they are. I'm here in Britain. I've noticed Red Wings are taking off here, now that Timberland boots have declined in quality. I'm looking for a new boot brand. Those Red Wings look great. Are they comfortable?
@GentlemansJourney4 жыл бұрын
These guys have been comfortable for me. I would note that they are not padded inside and that Redwing offers a comparable line the Sawmill. The Sawmill would be great for some cold Britain weather! I like the roughneck in summer but now that it's cold here in CO I am needing some winter protection. I think the fashion line of Timberland Boots have taken over their products and weakened the brand a bit. Cheers!
