That pocket up top, I usually fill with flat things like extra ranger bands and bits of "found paracord" (no joke). The folding part at the bottom is meant to shorten it by 1-2 inches so it doesn't interfere with, say, a battle belt or your rucksack kidney pads. Works better for short people, but I'm 6'01" so I keep it "long". I don't know why someone would want to attach a belt to this, but it couuuuuuld be done by running small loops with snaps through the pals webbing. In my opinion it would restrict lateral movement a little too much (I like to keep my waist flexible) but hey to each their own. Hope these tips help. This is the kind of chest rig that you do *not* want to load up with a million things, so keep it simple and it'll serve fine.

I have been constantly looking for the right vest/rig for my Arsenal 5.45. And I like it when I see a video about a vest or rig.
@danielbradshaw40259 жыл бұрын
Great video, really enjoyed...this rig is a vererant of the "RACK" (ranger assault carry kit) by Specialty Defense Systems. The one army used was not in play long. Low pro bodyarmor vest with the chest rig worn over it worked pretty good back in the 90's. My RACK carried 4 double stacked mag pouch, 2 one quart canteen pouches, 2 frag pouches, you could mix it up a little with your com gear and what not. Mainly it was used for short assaults, but I found the SDS one very durable and rugged. I still use it to this day to wear over low pro bodyarmor with rifle plates. Even my canteens are stainless steel for boiling if ever needed, very old school, but I find chances are you may need that ability when the time comes. Also, modular is a great practice, and with that comes layering your battle rattle much like you would ECW clothing.

I am very happy with my Condor Multicam plate carrier and I also have a tactical vest. Both have held up well and reviews from soldiers and buddies that are in the service and have served in A-Stan and Iraq have also had very good things to say about Condor, at least the stuff recently purchased within the last couple of years.

if someone wants to use this chest rig in conjunction with armor, i would recommend purchasing the blackhawk los-vis plate carrier. Its a smooth plate carrier that is profiled to rifle plates and the soft armor inserts that nutn has, however, it is only $30 at most retailers. i understand that this rig should hold plates, but if you are worried about them being exposed, the blackhawk carrier solves that problem with ease. good review nutn!

Nice vid! Brought up some great points! Never thought of you as an airsofter, even if you don't play now. As an young airsoft enthusiast I realise that you get to the point where you have to say hang on a min, this aint the real steel world, but that doesnt mean that airsofters dont want reasonably priced high quality gear. I know for a fact that in the UK at least (I cant speak for the rest of the world) have a great respect for those guys who do the real thing day in day out!

Nutnfancy, I am an airsofter and gun enthusiast and you made a great point about a lot of the "tactical gurus." My dad served in the Army Reserves for 20 years and he's recently started playing airsoft with me. Often times a group of about five guys show up in full Navy SEAL gear and they brag about how they practice and know all these tactical maneuvers oh and they made fun of dad because he was in the Reserves. Let's just say they got smoked by a 53 year old with old BDUs and an ALICE rig

playing paintball can teach you more about tactics than shooting a static target at the firing range. yes, you have to keep proficient in fire arms, but when you play paintball you find that your target doesn't stay still and doesn't like to be seen.

The timing on this is brilliant, I've been planning on picking up one of these for an airsoft op (Climb to Glory up in NY) and I was actually surprised to see you doing a review of something I've always considered 'for airsoft'. Amusingly enough I was planning on running a MOLLE mounted pistol-rig in the same place, thanks for the tip :D Also small point, they do make a Molle/Mesh vest with inbuilt Hydration Carrier (2.5liter) can't say the bladder is the highest quality, but, it works!

@ResidentEman Great comment and thanks. My reviews and takes are always genuine and not driven by a desire to be accepted or lauded by this or that faction. Airball if done right (with good dudes that have sportsmanship) is great training and recreation. For AEs (like that "Fookwah" fool) who slam it I'll ask: How else are you going to train with someone shooting back at you? One way tactical shooting is part of the equation but it lacks that important aspect.

love the chest rig!!! my primary is an m1a in the sage ebr chasis. the weight that a rig like this saves me compared to my interceptor (g.i. soft armor/plate carrier) is more than noticiable... it's liberating. i love the capability to engage an enemy with an ar or ak type rifle before they are able to reach me... but it is definitely a tradeoff in weight (heavier rifle, heavier mags). a lightweight rig like this is perfect for those who prefer to carry more rifle and less bells and whistles

i'm pretty sure that the small pockets are for ID type papers, and since the main use of this vest brand is airsoft/paintball and normally in large scenario games you need ID papers and you could probably put a small thing of armour in the lower pouch but i don't know i'm only a paintballer.

nutnfancy, your suspicions as far as a ceramic plate being a bit oversized compared to the upper section are well founded. i lucked out and got the blackhawk version of this rig for $30, "used" (love having a buddy with a surplus shop). even on the blackhawk rig, the edges of my plate are exposed and it has the same elastic up top that won't fit around the top of the plate. honestly condors rig looks surprisingly competitive.

I do like the open back design just for a day at the range and I have a support vehicle to hold all my other gear and supplies. I have the one similar to this but without the sternum area. I love it but I use it as a limited response "grab-n-go" vest. Something I would grab for a minor emergency where I won't need a full load out like I have on my Blackhawk full vest. This I can stick in the safe with 3-4 AR mags and 3 Glock mags, a knife, flashlight and multi-tool and be ready for something that might only last a few hours to a whole shift if need be.

I don't know if I like the pistol holster so high and pointing left. That would take some getting used to. I have seen a few people who review these chest rigs and they have that set up. Overall, great talking points for this rig. I am looking for a chest rig that will work for me. I am 6'3" and currently I have the UTG tactical vest. It's large, bulky and very warm. It covers a lot of my upper body and I am looking for something with less coverage. This is something to consider...

Excellent review. So comprehensive. I like to stop the video at points of interest (POI) and research on my own to verify and do more in depth study. Could spend an afternoon just on this one tabletop. These pain killers are excellent as well. Actually lets me concentrate! SO you didn't find that you experienced any ride-up without a belt? I would think, for the more in-shape dudes, this wouldn't be an issue. But for those carrying a little extra "armor", no belt means it won't stay put.

just fyi im about a 30-32 inch waist and i had a hard time getting this rig to fit tight around me. i actually had to do some cutting and modifying the waist strap to get it fit tight enough. the chest area with the shoulder straps is a bit wide for me. again i am a smaller guy but when shouldering my weapon i have a bit of interferences getting into my natural shooting position when standing (i like to squeeze my elbows in). great rig though as far as quality and comfort.

Heyo Nutn! ***I "think" the snaps on the bottom of the rig allow u to actually fold that small bit up to the other snaps that are about an inch or so above it, so it actually eliminates a row of molle at the bottom. This i assume would help with shorter torso people, make it a slightly smaller profile and/or others who want a belt underneath it.*** Not sure if someone or yourself mentioned this. Thoughts about that small "addition"? Best "REAL WORLD" gear reviewer i've seen yet!

@TNPviewer I went with a plate carrier because I like having my mag pouches on the sides instead of in front of me. Especially when prone. I can't hold as many utility pouches but can carry 300 rounds in mag pouches. As long as I can carry my trauma pack, binoculars, flashlight and a little food I'm good to go. The vest can carry more pouches though. I guess that;s why i am keeping the vest too.

@giovanniboydbonanno If you have a little more money lying around you could spring for a tactical tailor chest rig, they're very nicely constructed and very modular, but they do run on the expensive side. Alternatively you could just look for a chest rig of some sort, because a chest rig is little more adjustable than a vest. You could also remove the buckles from the condor sides, use a hand rivet tool to rivet in some holes where the buckles were, and run paracord that you can just cinch down
@MattPictures1314 жыл бұрын
yeah, I agree on most of your review, but I'd rather buy a Pantac Plate Carrier. Its 1000D Cordura instead of 500D. Yes it is a lot more expensive, but worth every penny. by the way, I noticed your SERPA holster, does the gun have to be full sized to fit in the holster? I'm buying a Desert warrior 4.3 1911, but it has the 4.3 instead of the regular 5.1 inch. I'm not sure if it'll fit or not. and thank you for making the point about "tactical gurus".

@bucki58 - they have a couple different designs of this vest i.e. with and without magazine pouches. They are having a sale on their mag pouches at the moment. Having bought 5 of them I can tell you each hold 2 30 rnd. Tapco mags or 25 shotgun shells or 80 rounds (still in the box 7.62x39mm) shells. Placing the pouches on the other vest Opsgear has worked great.

@highonimmi ime sorry...tnp team. i was looking at finding some type of rig for an sks with stripper clip instead of magazine. i found a deluxe rifle chest harness with 10 large pockets - Each holds up to (2) SKS 5rd mags or (2) 10rd stripper clips, or 10-18rds of rifle ammo. i guess that will do for now. but, trying to find anything resembling a decent tactical molle supported pouch for 7.62 x 39 stripper clip style ammo approach is a tad disheartening. thanks again for all u do.
