I agree with you Bro! This is an excellent tool. Condor knives can be inconsistent with grind, heat treat etc, but this is a home run!🙂👍

Well said, this is one of the few blades I'd make sure to replace if it ever was lost I just love it.

I sold my LDK to a friend of mine about a year and half ago. Earlier today I ask him if i could buy it back. Luckily it is still in it's original condition and he has no problem selling it back to me. The main attraction for me is the balance and grip on the knife.

Glad to hear you’re able to get it back into your hands, that’s pretty cool. I also agree, the balance and comfort is well thought out.

I am going back and forth between this and the Ontario RAT-7. Considering getting a new sheath for the RAT would break the budget, which of the 2 knives would you recommend for light wood processing, food prep, and just general camp tasks. Is there anything significant the RAT has that the LD doesn't?
@hazard5023 жыл бұрын
That's an excellent question Michael. I respect the RAT 7 and think it's a good knife. The RAT is 3/4" longer and 56gms heavier so it's advantage would be slightly better with heavy swings. Tasks below that kind of work I'd give an edge to the Low Drag. A little bit thinner blade stock would make it a better slicer, and has a more rounded handle for longer comfort. And with the shorter over all length, I think you'd appreciate the feeling of control you'd have over the tip and belly of the blade as I think the Low Drag is a good precise cutting tool. But it still has the strength to give me the confidence to go after bigger work if I wanted to. That quality leather sheath doesn't hurt either. I hope that's helpful for you :)

So, it's good or not? THIS OR ONTARIO RAT 7.. ??? I need advice.
@hazard5023 жыл бұрын
The Low Drag is very good and I would choose it first. It’s better at small to medium tasks and can hit hard on the occasion when you ask it to. The Rat 7 is better at heavy tasks but won’t be as good at the finer work.

Get both. I did.

I saw that vid where the Bushlore was chipped in several places from a year of use. That’s what keeps me from getting it. I just don’t trust the steel.

I'd like to suggest giving one a try, even if it feels like a bit of a risk. My prediction and hope is that you'd be pleasantly surprised on how good the current production and quality control is over models of 3-5 years ago. I think Condors heat treat on their 1075 has significantly improved based on reading and other reviews I've seen. Thanks a ton for watching, Hooty :)

1075 is super tough steel. A convex is both sharper and stronger than a v edge.
@hazard5022 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with a convex edge and I sure do appreciate using 1075.

I think the reason that handle appears small to everyone is that our brains scale it based off the blade. And that blade is not a 4” blade so the scale is off. Not saying there’s anything wrong with the handle OR the blade. Just the optical illusion of the handle being small.
@hazard5023 жыл бұрын
I never thought about it like that before, good point John. The blade to handle ratio is visually a little different with the Low Drag compared to others. Thanks for mentioning that.
