+Bear Independent Nice pack and tac vest/plate carrier. It's nice to see another person with the common sense to attach a dump pouch on their vest (I don't bother with armor plates because, like you said, if it doesn't stop rifle ammo it's not worth carrying and those strong enough to defeat rifle rounds are heavy as shit. I pack ammo heavy, so I'd rather utilize the weight and space to carry more ammo. I believe in a bare minimum of 10 extra high capacity mags for my rifle [one of my AKM variants or my M1A most likely and man, it's hard to find good double mag pouches for them. I finally found the Black Hawk tier stacked double mag pouches with shock cord retention for them. I just don't like the 5.56 or 9x19mm rounds in general and anything built on the AR platform in particular] and at least 6 extra high capacity mags for my primary handgun [probably my Glock 21 .45ACP, H&K USP .45 full size, with my Glock 20 10mm somewhere I can get to it fast if I need the heavier power, plus a couple extra mags for it and 2 extra mags for my backup pistol [normally my EDC/CCW pistol, a Glock 23 or Sig Saur P229 .40 caliber, carried in a belly band holster, which has elastic for 2 extra mags, inside my waist band] so my ammo is going to be heavy. I also believe in carrying enough ammo in vacuum sealed mylar bags labeled by caliber, to reload every mag I carry [which is more than what I consider bare minimum of extras, generally way more] at least once). I would be carrying more of everything in vehicle, but you have to be prepared to hoof it and those are the weapons I'd take with me. For toilet paper, have you seen those TP tablets. Canadian prepper turned me on to those. I thought they were some king of gag until he demonstrated them. They come in red, watertight, plastic tubes of 52 (iirc) count each. They're about the size of a double thick Alka Seltzer, and you just dampen them and they unfold into a sheet of butt wipe about half the size of a paper towel. They're awesome, pack light, and barely take up room in your ruck. Just a suggestion I thought you and your viewers could use. I pack a bit differently (as you said, it's all up to you and what you and your gear can handle), and set up my tac vest/plate carrier differently (I run the the Brit Mil Osprey) but I also use a large MOLLE bag for my IFAK and I make full use of MOLLE on vest and ruck, and extensive use of compression sacks (generally containing MOLLE pouches attached together inside the sacks), with both the pouches and compression sacks labeled. What are your main rucks (I.N.C.H. and regular sized )? My I.N.C.H.ruck is the MARPAT ILBE with attachable assault pack and regular sized ruck is the 5.11 Rush 72. They're both great, but I've been looking at some various rucks so I can have another packed and ready (for a buddy or for some eventuality you can't foresee, because you never know what's gonna happen in a real societal collapse where even the cops and National Guard are getting outta Dodge)

A sawyer mini filter or micro squeeze is a great option. Can even be used inline on the bladder so you can scoop and bolt. There......i also make an adapter so you can fill via the hose and don't have to remove the bladder from your pack.

I have one, and it's shitty compared to my crye. It's just not comfortable. Quite bulky. ... I do have a smaller frame. I'm at the smaller end of it's size range. I wear the steel ops ludis plates. I have a concerning amount of bottom, overhang from my carrier. The kangaroo pouch is pointless and bulky. I have it cause it's cheap. I wear it around the house, because I don't have the discipline to work out. If i need a carrier I wear my crye. The cheapo is great for maintaining strength. And it serves it purpose well. That's why the condor sucks for me. But works great for this man-mountain on the video. Or maybe even you, idk. But for me. 5'9" 150. It's a bit much. I even wear a custom cut plate that's a bit smaller than the medium size. On the plus side. The thin plates I use, actually fit nicely with no padding. And because it's so long on me. It's more comfortable on my boobs. (D's). Plenty of adjustment to get it to fit.

Whole lot of hurt feelings over salt, high blood pressure, etc. Salt doesn’t cause high blood pressure for you KZbin experts, it aggravates high blood pressure.
@harperhealing51905 жыл бұрын
Cause and "aggravate" is semantics. Its not "salt" its salt in the form of "sodium chloride", which is chemical make up of table salt. Sea Salt does not effect the body the same way as "sodium chloride". of course if you exercise daily and have a positive mental state that will mitigate the effects. But most people are negative and don't exercise. Its easier just to use sea salt and not worry about it.

Great video, great concept, great coverage. My personal preference is a tiered system with my normal carry stuff being on a thin padded war belt. Don't want to have to carry that heavy shit all the time, but do want to be able to be well armed all the time. Only thing I directly contest is armor. I've got rifle rated armor and it's good shit, but like you say its heavy and bulky and reduces that maneuverability. I like to keep soft armor handy though (standard 10x12 3a in a slick carrier that can go under a chest rig if nothing else.) Won't stop any hard core threat but it also doesn't really slow me down at all at less than 2.5lbs for both front and back plates, and it is protection against ricochets, frag (from splatter of impacts or whatever else), shotguns, etc. My philosophy is if I'm expected trouble, wear the hard armor. If chances are slim, wear the soft armor that I can still dump easily if I need to. If I'm just working around the homestead, fuck all that noise.

If you’re on your own yes, my day pack is setup for a buddy to grab extra shit. Non essential stuff that he can grab and hand to me. It changes for your mission. Some backpack setups have mags on the back. Its great in a stack. Doesnt make so much sense running solo. Lighten the load and slick it up
@WhoWouldWantThisName4 жыл бұрын
I see two basic lines of thought on the back side. One approach is to use something like this and the other is a flatter PC with an additional pack you can wear over it. In the latter method you have the advantage of a lighter and more compact loadout for your movements on foot and can leave the extra gear in a vehicle or at a camp/FOB/OP/whatever. When you need to take it along on foot you can still do so but the downsides are you don't have as neat and concise, or comfortable/secure, loadout when packing it all and you also have a changing loadout to adapt to. With the approach Bear is using you have everything all the time and it doesn't change. So you don't have to discover that pouch is now under your pack and you can't quite get into it and such. It all depends on how much you need and what your mission is.

I have a very similar setup. I just do not have as much stuff on my back. A lot of the stuff you carry on your back I carry on a battle belt. You have level 1, 2 & 3 gear. Level 1 civie clothes and what fits in your pockets, level two battle load out and level 3 main backpack which can be mission specific depending on number of days you are going to be in the field. What a lot of people neglect is a level 2.5 pack which is your slimmed down emergency shelter survival kit with all your can't live without essentials and ammo resupply. A kit which tears away from your level 3 kit which is much lighter for a more E&E mission.

Pretty much how my duty setup is. Only thing I have different is I’ll either double stack my m4 mags or I’ll put the extra 1-3 on my belt. Dump pouch, M9 mag pouches, handcuff pouch is all on my belt as well along with a few misc. pouches. I’ve got my IFAK on my left side behind my radio and baton pouches. Since I’m right handed it just doesn’t make sense for me to have that IFAK pouch on the right side, even though it’s nice to rest my elbow on when I have an M4. Too difficult to smoothly draw my pistol. I never understood having a pack on the back. I usually have a ruck so it would never be necessary for me to have a small pack like that anyways. I have found that a crotch pouch or fanny pack is pretty good to have, and it fits most of the shit you had in the top pouch on the back pretty well. Might want to give it a try! And then a large admin pouch to hold the stuff in the bottom part of the pack and just get rid of it entirely. But you do you, sweet setup and looks badass

Amazing review. Gonna disagree with you on rifle rated body armor or nothing. A, soft body armor has 360 degree coverage of your torso, no weak spots and overlaps in some areas. B, a majority of threats and deaths in the US are by handguns. Also I don’t know if you run a sidearm but having a slick right cummerbund will be essential for a clean, smooth, and consistent draw out the holster. Thanks brother!

Great video been looking at the Condor flue hydration pack to attache to my pc. Also use it for a day pack when just out with the kids or impromptu hikes that u didn't plane for. now the question is this, how do u integrate ur ruck on to all this? would like to see what the full system looks like on you to really get see the concept of how it works not saying it doesn't work.

Best thing about Sunbelt bars is that they are 50 cents a piece.

Hey Bear! Love your videos! I know this is a little older but I was curious what size plate carrier you are using? Or if you had a link to the carrier in your video? I'm a big guy too and am looking for a carrier that will fit comfortably, thank you!
