I enjoyed seeing your work. The items were really nice to see. I am happy to see how cone 5 works with glazes and that you spoke about the same combinations work using cone 6.

What roller did you use
@Dollfacepottery Жыл бұрын
It’s the wildlife rolling pin from Vermont Pottery works (for the bottoms) and the MKM roller for the mountains

Just a question about your kiln. Looks like you have a manual kiln. Do by any change do a hold when glazing and if so how would you on your manual kiln?

Yes I have a manual kiln. My husband installed a thermalcouple with an external digital readout and once the kiln sitter cone shuts off the kiln, I raise the release hatch very slowly and press the button in again. I then turn my timer on (on my phone) for the required hold time and then shut it off by lifting the release hatch and let it drop.

I’m so glad someone asked you this question. I also have a manual kiln, actually 2, and I am to the point where I reallly need to add the computer part! May I ask what controller you got and if you’re happy with it? Also was it hard to install? I would LOVE to be able to use the controller for both kilns. I have a pretty large kiln that is a Cress 10-27 and an Evenheat that is brand new and uses 12” shelves so rather small but really good for testing, as I do a lot of testing, as well as overglaze decal firings and luster firings. Thanks so much.

@@micheledickey4066 Hi Michelle, I ordered mine from Pottery Supply house in Canada. Their technical team can help you with any questions you have. It is a thermal couple installed inside the kiln and attached to the outside, then the wire goes to the external digital reader. I don’t have any control over the temp with it, it just shows me the exact temp the center of the kiln reaches.

@@Dollfacepottery Oh ok I see. I have the problem with my kiln where it fires a cone 7 on the bottom and then on the top it’s a cone 6! It’s been a real struggle for sure. I finally figured out, after over a year of trying different things, that putting my larger pieces on one half or the bottom shelf and mid size pieces on the other half and staggering the shelves I got a much more even firing!! I was beyond happy when this worked! It’s a huge pain to do but whatever works
