The reason baseball coaches cover home plate with dirt is because umpires have plate brushes that they use to clean the plate so its visible to both teams players, its essentially making more work for the umpire out of spite

Someone else mentioned that the kicking the dirt is because it's the ump's job to dust it off, but it's not only that. It's a direct insult to the umpire's ability to see balls and strikes because a strike is supposed to go over home plate. By covering it in dirt, you're also saying that the umpire doesn't know where it is and doesn't know how to call balls or strikes correctly.

Kung pow has held up very well imo, except for a few references that would go over modern audiences. But the biggest hurdle is whether someone can accept the changes in quality. The jokes and gags have a lot of beats similar to internet humor, but it still has a clear direction and actual character so it feels like a movie unlike most of the parody movies from around that time.
