tbf keep in mind that a lot of the Japanese games winning, were more about voice acting and he was listening to the American voice actors who were a lot worse (from what I remember) than the Japanese voice actors which made their scenes that much funnier. Except that Kingdom Hearts one, that was more funny on like a Monty Python, Black Knight sketch level. Where the funny thing is how ridiculously long it goes on for.

I can defend Sonic 99% of the time. The rocket ship inside a pyramid makes more sense when you remember it's a pyramid that Eggman took over as a secret base, it makes infinitely more sense when you play the game. The Secret Rings clip with the mountain of tissues? I cannot defend that. It is hilariously stupid and I adore that they tried so hard to make that moment work. If a Sonic story doesn't work, all I hope is that it's earnest and entertaining. Absolutely goofy.

Mountain of hankies is a callback to something Sonic said near the beginning of the game, joking about wish for a hanky to blow his nose or something because of dust. But in the new context, he's asking for hankies when Shahra is having emotional issues over Erazor (her toxic ex) "dying" so SHE can let her emotions out and get over things at her own pace instead of him using the wish to wish away her pain. Basically he wants her to grow from the experience rather than pretending it didn't happen or that she's not hurting. Or something like that.

People forget the R word was very commonly used back in the day. I went to school in the early 2000s and kids said that shit all the time on the playground. It wasn't until the 2010s when we decided it was no longer acceptable. Extra context for the wheelchamp: The Erazor Djinn is canonically the genie from Aladdin. He and Shahra were in a toxic relationship where he was the abuser. So Shahra was already crying out of grief when Sonic made the wish, he didn't wish for her to cry lol. Also I can't believe we have had 2 of these and no one has submitted "What am I fighting for?" from Megaman X4.

If I remember correctly they're like at least partially magic. There's enemies later on that use an attack with the same name as those things that target magic defence. But yeah, despite the game trying to hint at the fact the evil faction is one that comes from an ultra advanced lost society it's done pretty poorly and is only even relevent in one of the 3 routes, so you could not realize this shot until you're into your 3rd playthough lmao

Dead Rising as a series has to take the cake in terms of funniest cutscenes. Every cutscene the player character is in has the outfit he’s wearing currently carry over. If you’re wearing something stupid like a giant Lego head and mega man clothes or big horse mask and kid’s clothes, it’ll show up on your character no matter how serious the scene is.
