BBS wasn't even out when kh2fm originally came out in japan so that scene just *entirely* doesn't get explained until later anyway. Its a brand new scene, added to the rerelease of the game, and like, the most context you get for it is the secret ending of that very own game, which teases BBS. This entire scene is just a whole bunch of stupid nonsense. oh, and the fact that that scene is around the same time as the whole "they'll pay for this" moment too. Truly peak kingdom hearts nonsense around the midpoint of the game.

I can defend Sonic 99% of the time. The rocket ship inside a pyramid makes more sense when you remember it's a pyramid that Eggman took over as a secret base, it makes infinitely more sense when you play the game. The Secret Rings clip with the mountain of tissues? I cannot defend that. It is hilariously stupid and I adore that they tried so hard to make that moment work. If a Sonic story doesn't work, all I hope is that it's earnest and entertaining. Absolutely goofy.

Mountain of hankies is a callback to something Sonic said near the beginning of the game, joking about wish for a hanky to blow his nose or something because of dust. But in the new context, he's asking for hankies when Shahra is having emotional issues over Erazor (her toxic ex) "dying" so SHE can let her emotions out and get over things at her own pace instead of him using the wish to wish away her pain. Basically he wants her to grow from the experience rather than pretending it didn't happen or that she's not hurting. Or something like that.

But yeah, despite the game trying to hint at the fact the evil faction is one that comes from an ultra advanced lost society it's done pretty poorly and is only even relevent in one of the 3 routes, so you could not realize this shot until you're into your 3rd playthough lmao

Dead Rising as a series has to take the cake in terms of funniest cutscenes. Every cutscene the player character is in has the outfit he’s wearing currently carry over. People forget the R word was very commonly used back in the day. I went to school in the early 2000s and kids said that shit all the time on the playground. It wasn't until the 2010s when we decided it was no longer acceptable. Extra context for the wheelchamp: The Erazor Djinn is canonically the genie from Aladdin. He and Shahra were in a toxic relationship where he was the abuser. So Shahra was already crying out of grief when Sonic made the wish, he didn't wish for her to cry lol. I love starting from 11:51 Coney has no idea what the fuck is going on but is playing along throughout the whole thing and totally getting into his role no matter how nonsensical and amateurish the cutscene is. From only watching compilations and not streams, I have likely heard mention of him having a kid before but I'd forgotten the fact. He must be an awesome dad to play with, his daughter is so lucky. also he's cooking about these early PC games being either unintentional or way-too-effective nightmare fuel. they were a lot more limited in how much graphics and sound could be included so you'd have weird and fucked up shit happening, like being trapped inside a book and having your pages torn out, punctuated by complete and utter silence that just drove what happened home or put you in a state of horror and anticipation at something even more fucked up happening. not like today's horror that is just a constant stream of stimulation with occasional cheap jumpscares.
