I'm a 69 year old man who lives in Western Tennessee. My Great Great Grandfather, William Lewis Sanders, was killed here at The Battle of Stones River on December 31st, 1862. He owned a small farm in Gibson County and his reason for enlisting in The Confederate Army was the issue of States Rights! I salute his bravery and standing for something he believed in!!

I hope you can detail the Tullahoma Campaign. Usually overlooked sandwiched between Gettysburg and Vicksburg. Most brilliant tactical moves by the Union during the war. Rosecrans is underappreciated.

Unfortunately largely overlooked by 20th century historians because it didn't involve Grant or Lee. Civil War scholarship in this century has been more well rounded. William Rosecrans, George Thomas and Nathan Bedford Forrest should receive more recognition.

I'm grateful to those scholars who have brought out the significance of the Battle of Stones River. Also guys like my friend NPS Ranger, Jim Lewis, who has dedicated so much of his career to understanding its importance and the proper interpretation of the history there.

Looks a bit like the Pickett's charge ground at Gettysburg. A bit shorter ground to cover maybe.
