Good to know that the Confederate army always went in to battle with at least one brass band.

I'n from Fayetteville, and the hospital where I work has Confederate breastworks still intact on the grounds. It's interesting to walk through them, and kind of try to visualize how the area was laid out at the time.

Is there any record of soldiers preferring one model, or manufacturer over another? Were they issued one rifle for the duration of their service or did they change rifles with the quarter master as newer models became available?

My great grand father was a confederate. What a shame on the current politics, that have allowed the eraseing of history

Where is the collection now. It was taken off display for a while. It was donated to be displayed. If it’s not give it to a place that will.

The 16 shot Henry Rifle was patented in 1860. Yikes what a firepower advantage a Henry-armed soldier would have against soldiers wielding those shown above.

Back in the 70s a friend of mine was metal detecting a hill top in Morrisville NC at an old home site and found a Hitlers Youth aluminum belt buckle. That was one of the last battles of the Confederacy. That hill top is long gone cut down for town houses. Just a comment I made to him when he brought the belt buckle in to work. Told him it was Stewarts 12th ss panzer division @@rc59191

Terrific presentation Chris. I learned alot. I always did think that confederate muskets came from England and or were captured and confiscated Yankee arms. Also never seen muskets where the sling swivel went to the front of the trigger guard. Excellent excellent presentation.

Fantastic show of war between the state's weapon's the south had a very hard time and history is not thought correctly. The war was over taxation not slavery many in the north had slaves in fact the first slave owner was a black man in NY. However when you bring that up your a bad person. Even though slavery was started by a black in NY and he opened the door to the trade I'm not big on history of that only the truth. And if you're going to say bad things about me I will tell you I have been married 30+ years to a Korean girl with 4 kid's and would due for her or the kid's. But Best advice is to get saved now before it's too late watch Dr Gene kim UC Berkeley youtube or robert breaker youtube get saved now. Absolute dedication absolute loyalty+++
300 yards impossible distance for these guns you need a barrel with rifling to be effective at that distance these guns are smooth barrel which makes it impossible. which by the way is 900ft a very long way even for modern guns. Most muskets were lethal up to about 175 yards, but was only , with tactics dictating volleys be fired at 25 to 50 yards. Because a portion of the powder in a cartridge was used to prime the pan, it was impossible to ensure a standard amount of powder was used in each shot.
@jamiebilbrey59083 жыл бұрын
You have obviously never fired one of these. The Enfield was rifled and I would put up against a Springfield any day if the week. 300 yards in a pie plate all day long! Some of the most accurate weapons of all time were due to the civil war. It’s absurd to believe that all were smooth bore muskets. Even if they were with buck and ball at 300 years you’re still gonna hit something if they are using Napoleonic tactics walking breast to breast. Which they were. There is literally no truth to your claim.
