Fifth generation Native Texan right here, by the grace of Almighty God. To my beloved Texas I will always be true. May God forever bless her with the beauty and liberty that she has always known. The closest place to heaven on earth, the apple of my eye, may our Texas secede from the once great Union and pursue her independent path. Thank you, God, for allowing me to be a native born son of Texas!
@viking1960
@viking1960 11 жыл бұрын
The North's argument that the South had no right to seceed is very simply based on the incorrect idea that the North owned the South's ass, and that the South could do nothing without their Northern "owner's" permission. And the North claimed to be against slavery. BULLSHIT.
@fuzzyferguson6975
@fuzzyferguson6975 11 жыл бұрын
We have the right to change our system of government if we are no longer satisfied with its performance, and Texas has the constitutional right to secede whenever it wishes to, despite what Obama and his regime argue to the contrary. The South, and Texas in particular, would be better off if we could cut ties with the North.

The yellow rose of Texas honors my home state, which is by birth and by choice. A land where personal integrity and independence are still valued qualities. As a rural Texan-American and military veteran, it's my sworn oath to uphold and defend the U.S. Constitution's cherished Bill of Rights. Plus obeying the Almighty's ten commandments, namely numbers 3 (Do not use God's name in vain, such as invoking the name of "Allah" to justify one's evil acts), 6 (Do not murder), and 9 (Do not defame your neighbor, which causes victims unwarranted grief and/or damage).

My ancestor served in the confederate navy. I'm proud of his military service and that of his colleagues, but the confederacy's institution of chattel slavery was a sinful abomination. Its racist underpinnings poisoned the hearts of many southerners and northerners. During that period, democrats promoted their peculiar institution while republicans ended it. Overcoming systemic racism took 100 years longer with the 1960s civil rights movement. However, today's social progressive democrats appear once again to be keeping racism alive and well for political and personal gain.

James Whitmire What's your point? The Yellow Rose of Texas had nothing to do with the Confederacy, it was a song celebrating Emily D. West, the woman who was having sex with Santa Anna during the Battle of San Jacinto, leaving him unprepared for the attack, leading to the independence of Texas from Mexico. The Yellow Rose is a Texan hero, having nothing to do with the Confederacy.

+Daniel Chapman The song wasn't written until 1853, and if you know your history, Texas became a state December 29, 1845.

James Whitmire Correct, it was a nostalgic look-back at history and of Texas pride. And if you know your history, the Confederacy wasn't formed until 1961, making the Yellow Rose of Texas *not* a Confederate Song.

+Daniel Chapman Sorry, but I think your head's in the wrong century there. Anyway, it was a popular marching tune for Confederate Texans. The song was written pre-Confederacy, but is now closely associated with it. That's just history.

Not all of us liberals, especially moderate ones like myself, are against the Confederate Flag. Some of us, myself included, actually support it and welcome the establishing of a New Confederacy. I'm not like today's so-called "liberal" extremists who see "male chauvinism" and "white supremacy" in every trend that comes along. I'm more of the 60's liberal who sees the suppression of Southern culture as part of the denial of cultural heritage to all subcultures that are in contrast to the values of the "Establishment" [read Yankee, or US, Government]. I am also a southerner. So keep waving the Glorious Flag of the South, dudes! And may God Bless the Coming Confederacy!

+James Ronnie Green I like you, and the way you expressed yourself,too. I'm not a Texan,since I was born in the middle of Alabama in 1949. If somebody's huntin' for a man more Southern than I am, they're gonna be out huntin' for a long time. And for my brothers and sisters in and from Texas, I think the world of ever damn one of 'em, and may the Good Lord Bless us all! Matter of fact, I never met but one Texan I didn't like, and it turned out he was from Virginia anyhow! But,sir, I fail to see how it is that you define yourself a "Liberal" of any stripe! Take no offense, for none is intended, but it does baffle me a small amount. I don't think that when all's said and done that it comes to much anyway, and I believe in Freedom, so define away! Our Colors? Every single one of the sufferers of political correctness disease who don't like that flag can take a number, get in line, wait their turn, and kiss my Alabama ass!

I have a ton of renditions of 'The Yellow Rose Of Texas' on my external hard-drive, but, it wasn't until now that I came across this one.; From what I read/heard about a year-and-a-half ago, this rendition was featured in the beginning of one of my all-time favorite 1980's action movies ('Runaway Train', 1985), but, nobody was sure what the name of song was & who the artist/band was that performed it, at the time. Who performs this rendition & what album is it from?; For right now, I only have the album info for this song on Windows Media Player & I put 'Runaway Train' as the name of the album.

Though I am from the north (Wisconsin), I respect any American who fought and died to defend their ideals and land. In my eyes, we are all sons and daughters of America. My prayers go out to families who lost members on both sides of the Civil War. I have an ancestor who survived a musket-ball shot to the neck (the round was still in his neck for all the years he lived after the war and never died from lead poisoning).
