The ID part is one of my biggest struggles. I am new teller and I get yelled at and insulted every time I ask for their ID. I see many people everyday and I can't remember them always especially being part time am not there always. Any tips on how to deal with rude customers like this? I like the bank , management , and my team but I can't take the rude treatment and am thinking about quitting but I am pregnant and can't afford being jobless or wait for another job. Please any tips to help me through with these rude customers?
@MelissaFreeman5 жыл бұрын
Shane Lina you just remember that by asking for ID you’re just following procedure and doing your job. If they get rude I would simply say things like “I’m sorry Brenda I am just just trying to make sure I am giving the money to the correct person. I wouldn’t want someone come in and pretend to be you and me give your money away to the wrong person” once they realize you’re actual “protecting” them and have their best interest in mind then they change their tune. Otherwise if they’re simply just to hard to get along with I tell them they are more than welcome to wait in the persons like that knows them or speak to the manger on the issue. It’s hard not to say “kiss my ass I don’t get paid to deal with your BS” especially when pregnant 😂 but of course we can only do that after they leave!! Lol Working with the public can be hard! Hang in there
@linashane12105 жыл бұрын
@@MelissaFreeman That's exactly what I tell them , and it's for their own protection but I get to hear their bs and how inconvenient it is for them. I even started to keep notes of people description, car make and color, etc to be able to recognize them since I am always in the drive through ,but I work in a small town and most of the rude people are the older generation who tell me they have been banking there before I was born. Thank you for replying though if it wasn't for the baby's sake so I can provide for him when he is born I wouldn't take their shit and the way they treat me. I so wish to tell them how I feel about the way they treat me but it wouldn't be so pleasant to their ears. I wish banks start adding photo ID to the system they use so when we pull their info we can see their photo so new tellers don't have to go through this.
@MelissaFreeman5 жыл бұрын
Shane Lina all banks should definitely do that! & I was on drive thru for YEARS! & we had just came from a merger & we just got the new camera system where there’s no actual window & the older customers were PISSED every day & told me his much they hate it & of course it was my fault since I was at the “new” building LOL It’s just something that comes with them job but you’ll have BS like that anywhere you work. Maybe not quiet as bad but do you think your manager would let you work the line instead of drive through?

@@MelissaFreeman They won't let me work the line because we are going to have tellers coming from another branch because it's closing and they want the experienced ones upfront. It really sucks working as a teller for 5 years and never ever, ever getting promoted....even after going above and beyond to make sure you are interviewing great. Especially when you just give up because you keep finding out that the all of the managers keep hiring one of their own at their own branch and only interview you bc it is mandatory for them to interview all applicants. It can feel really hopeless, when you do all you can to be great in your role and you know you’re more then ready to move up to at least a banker position and all the positions are being given based off of favoritism and/or only to bilingual people.

He was covered from the tips of his fingers to his elbow, with black grease. It was so bad that there were little chunks of it stuck to the hairs on his arms. So, I was thinking of a way to stop him politely from going up there. It had a sneeze bar on it but he needed a body bar, so I said to him “you look exhausted, why don’t you tell me what you would like I’ll get it for you?” Mind you all the other customers were watching this. He says to me “no why do you think I ordered the salad bar? So no one is touching my food. I almost fell over. My other customers were upset 😡 to say the least and wanted the manager. Nobody does videos on normal sized savings tellers see? How much is a large amount to withdraw in cash? What kind of profession have large sums of money? The people that have large amounts of cash do they look like they have it? Maybe some insight on investing like real estate, stocks, car sales… other questions like when theft, counterfeit

how about having your account number.... most of the time clients complain that the transaction is taking too long. Well..... if you had your account number we wouldnt have to take the extra time to look it up . So if you want to get out of the bank fast have the dang number. Also, you want make a large withdrawal....(20,30,40k) you better call ahead. I dont know when this video was made but banks no longer keep that kind of cash on hand for one client. It needs to be ordered. AND if you do order it from a branch PLEASE have the decency to get the cash from that branch and not another one. Bank reps took the time to order for you and if you dont come and get it from where you order it from not only does it have to be reprepped and shipped back out but now you have thrown off the limits for the branch and that can lead to an audit breech.

OMG!! I'm sorry you have to go through that sweetheart. Some clients are very rude. May be its because of Location difference. In my country usually the Bank teller are very very rude. The clients are not free to talk to the Bank teller, coz they gets angry for anything. Some teller looks at us as if we're asking their money.

I had one gentleman yell at me for asking for his license. When he did send it in (drive-thru) he only sent in the bottom half of his ID. Idk if he snapped it in half on purpose or it was already like that

Give the bank even 2 business days before you need to preform a large withdrawal so they can have the money in advance As for burping... call it social distancing.

I hope you can answer my question I ve been thinking of applying to become a bank teller and though it’s obvious you need basic math something about handling money scares like messing up what do you think it is something you build up? It that makes sense lol
@MelissaFreeman5 жыл бұрын
DirtCheapBeautiful!!! You do have to be EXTREMELY attentive to detail with working with money at the bank. Just so you’re clear on the actual job counting money is just 1/2 of the job. You’ll be fixing problems with accounts all day, answers customers questions, ordering things they needs and doing research. If all of that sounds like fun to you then you can apply and just try to be super super cautious when counting etc. if you have an outage more than a few times you will be let go.
@computernb5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for replying!!! Definitely helps...
@MelissaFreeman3 жыл бұрын
A business day is a day if the week that the business is open so Mon-Fri. An outage means you’re missing money. Just going by all of the questions you have asked in my banking videos I would suggest taking a couple basic courses at a community college for you. You do need to be a somewhat knowledgeable:intelligent person to do such a job. Do you have a high school diploma yet?

Is it possible for a credit union to tell you that you have an interview and right on the day before they tell you that they have hired someone with experience without interviewing you ?
