I really have to thank you, Gopher, from the bottom of my heart. No, not for the amazing content you've brought us during these 9 Chapters, but for the massive amount of faith you have in our attention span because you actually believed we'd start a conspiracy over a skipped day and not just lazily attribute it to you fixing one of Skyrims umpteenth bugs. So thank you, Gopher, you complete babbling maniac

I've done that sort of thing with my current skyrim playthrough with trying to emulate some of the vampric abilities I wanted my character to have off the bat or things I wanted to happen in the written portion of the story and translate into the game The mod I'm using for him is vampric thirst and there's this one story ability where when the character is in danger of being hit the object in his vision will slow down to him and he's able to avoid it because a skill like that was the only way that I could feasibly keep him alive so he wasn't immediately flattened by the first wolf or bandit he met because he's a farm kid with no special combat skills other than his awakening vampire abilities. so i went through about 10 different mods trying to emulate that skill and i still haven't found a good enough mod to emulate that for the legendary edition that I'm using. And I still haven't found the ideal ability to emulate that in atleast not for the legendary edition I did find a spell mod called the master of space and time but it's actually far too strong and slows the enemy down to the point of nearly freezing them. If push comes to shove I might try to make a mod for it something like a toggle able quick reflexes power is honestly more than enough cause then I can control it.

As someone who ended up throwing away a character like 20 levels after not doing something like this, after something he was kinda created for broke in a quest. I can understand this. When I talk about Gopher to friends and why I love his stories, and storytelling mastery, the part about Leonard finding the phantasmal chest too early is something I can point to. It's like the Eagles in LOTR. Or Neo in the Matrix knowing he's The One from the moment he takes the red pill. Gopher went above and beyond to give us an engaging and fun story. Most creators would just accept they found it and move on. Gopher is a storyteller. And one of the more masterful storytellers. And now I can point to this video for my friends to show why I say that.

I will miss Leonard, but these videos will live on as long as there is a KZbin or as long as you leave them public. I have already watched the entire series at least twice if not more. I know there is still a bit to do in order to wrap up Leonard's story and I do not envy you in that process. I have to say, playing a part of the game 3+ times, just to ensure a well done story based on improve and random chance is impressive. 1. The real run: Sudden concern for the story. Includes some audio. 2. The modified run: Sudden concern for the state of the save game. Includes video and the rest of the audio. 3. The behind the scenes run: Just ignore the issue. Get the data needed. As if the original run was a save file that got corrupted (by too early wealth and power). If I was doing a similar style of Skyrim Let's Play, and I might some day, I would have done the same thing.

i'd like to do a similar series with the game some day, some things i'd of thought of to counter balance the sudden wealth...the chest has a magical lingering connection...that she(my PC/OC/w/e) can't access yet, maybe this spawns a "college of winterhold arc". or maybe she recklessly spends all the wealth contained in that, ends up fairly destitute having spent it all all over the place, houses, thieves guild, museum, etc, etc, doesn't counter the problem of infinite storage, but, maybe she just goes on so many benders in such short time that she forgets to how to access it and many other things, like, booze induced memory problems. i'm sure there's other things i could think of but these were the first two.

Well, believe it or not, I completely understand. In my younger life I did some acting on stage and to this day I have no idea how actors, stage and screen, make something scripted they've done over and over again look and sound spontaneous. A lot of actors say they never watch themselves because it feels so fake to them. Which is exactly what you were doing. Trying to "act" spontaneous, then watch it to see if it felt that way. We, as viewers probably would never have noticed but there's no way you could have NOT noticed. It must have been a nightmare. You were having to be the writer, the actor, the director, the producer, the sound guy and the guy in the cutting room. There's a reason they don't do that in the movies. The fact that you found a way to do it to your own satisfaction is an amazing feat and accomplishment. Bravo, my friend. Guess it kinda gives you and all of us an idea why some movies suck and some are great. Bet you were loads of fun to be around while you were fixing that xD. Also I doubt anyone of us thinks you're nuts or would have expected anything less from you. I knew I would never guess what it was so I just waited for you to spill it. :-)

Regarding the "Coin Flip" mod getting used less and less as time went on, have you ever considered adding additional functionality to it? For instance, in "Lost Judgment", you can throw a coin to make a sound and distract patrolling enemies. That seems like it could be implemented into Coin Flip, dual-wielding the ability to throw it a far distance and the game treat it similar to when a fired arrow hits a point in the environment. Also, if the enemies in question are Bandits or Thieves, maybe set things up so that if multiple enemies hear the same coin, they get a 10 second enraged effect placed on them, to simulate them fighting over the coin they found. Both sound like things that Leonard would do. I can easily imagine him throwing a coin into a room, turning invisible, and sneak-attacking the enemy that goes to pick up the coin. (probably to keep it from being OP, limit the enemy types that it works with to Bandits or other low-level enemies that wouldn't be a threat to Leonard anyways and aren't worth wasting poison on) Hell, it would be funny to see it used on characters that aren't enemies. Throw a coin so a civilian turns around to pick it up, then quickly pick their pockets or swipe something while their back is turned. Sounds like the kind of thing the leader of the Thieves Guild would do.

You know, I have a love/hate relationship with that Phantasmal Chest as well. I always seem to find it easily on characters who either would never use it because it's magical, and thereby must be evil or dangerous, or on characters who would totally use it, but it's too early for them. Then, on characters where they'd use it, they're late enough in the game that it almost trivializes the loot inside, I can't find the bloody thing. I find it, usually, when I'm winding down the run. (For the record: "Winding down the run" is my way of saying, "Main quest is done. Finish any faction side-quests like Companions, College, Brotherhood, etc. DLC is completed, wrap up any loose DLC side-quests. Clear out the last few minor side-quests, personal favors, etc. that I want to do. Check that I've cleared out my quest journal save for the few lingering 'repeat until bored' quests. The run is over, there is no more I wish to do with this character." What happens after I finish a run is that I then exit Skyrim, open the game saves folder, do a ctrl+a, delete, yes, and wipe out everything. Now, I can alter my mods, give Skyrim a few days/weeks/months worth of a break, and start a new game with a new character.) As one might imagine, that's the second worst time to find the stupid thing, with the worst time being early game when you're still having to do quests to survive, still having to decide between the Dwarven Greatsword of Burning or the Elven Helmet of Enhanced Archery (because the greatsword is worth more, but if you keep the helmet, you might find something worth more that weighs less), still excited because you found a bit of decently useful enchanted gear. To get a magic chest that suddenly eliminates storage concerns, contains epic amounts of loot, and doesn't even have a drawback like "can only be summoned once per day" tends to turn a hard-balanced, kill-loot-return-resupply playthrough into "I don't need to decide what I'm taking, I'll just throw it in the chest." Somewhat like Richard's horse, except without the drawbacks of "if your horse dies, you're going to regret the 3 tons of junk you put in the saddlebags" or "your horse might run away in combat, taking all of your extra weapons out of your reach, forcing you to fight while half starved, freezing cold, and armed with only the things in your inventory." Usually followed by said enemy chasing your horse over a cliff, horse dies, and now you're half-starved, freezing cold, and overencumbered, meaning you typically don't win that fight, either.

Found myself thinking about Leonard and Inigo the other day as I booted up Skyrim after a years-long break. I lost interest in everything Skyrim in 2019, but recently my interest has been rekindled, which means I have SO MUCH catching up on - you have no idea how happy I was to go onto your channel and realise there's 10 chapters of Leonard's tale to watch instead of the 3-4 there was when I stopped.

Regarding Phantasmal Chest scene... Gopher, you showed us how INSANE and maniacally dedicated you have to be to provide us with highest quality LP. Kudos and THANK YOU for thousands of hours (I watched all of your Skyrim and Fallout videos... and most of other series, including those from Twitch) of best quality entertainment.

I do remember at one point there was a strange sound, and you responded to a comment about it saying that you knew what the phantasmal chest was, which I thought was odd at the time since it was your first playthrough of Legacy. I'd completely forgotten about that until you brought up the chest here, but it makes sense.

I think that therapeutic aspect of early Leonard playthrough is one of the reasons I keep coming back to Chapter 1 and 2. I often binge watch them again and again, and it's so entertaining. Not saying that the later chapters aren't (you are insanely creative to keep entertainment value at its highest), but there was definitely something special about "incompetent" Leonard days. That said, he still steps on the odd trap here and there. Thank you for not picking Light Footed XD But yes, Inigo is really a gem. There's nothing like it, and his relationship with Leonard is simply amazing. Anyway, thanks for the video! It's a lovely series and would love to hear more of such thoughts. EDIT: Concerning the disaster, a similar thing happened to me in my playthrough. I somehow found a Tome of Invisibility VERY EARLY in my game, and it made Stealth, even with the same mods as you have, almost obsolete in some early stages. I reloaded the save and went back to avoid it, to not trivialize the stealth experience in early games (I also had a story for my character and didn't want her dabbling in magic until later). So I can really understand why it was such a disaster for you. I'm so glad the LWOTL has been kept for so long!

I do agree with some of the comments here man, this was more than a Let's Play series, it was a work of art and like Prime Time entertainment man. I was so burned out on Skyrim when you began the Leonard Let's Play series, and you managed to captivate my interest in this game, but your story as well so much more than I thought possible.

Funnily, for my own playthrough of Legacy (v4), finding the Phantasmal Chest was a defining moment for my character. I found it relatively early on but not nearly as early as you did, and because summoning it levels Conjuration naturally by small amounts, my previously completely unmagical Volendrung-swinging orc decided to look some more into the school of Conjuration and is now a master specialized on summoning atronachs and dremora (and the occasional Bound Bow when necessary).

As an author, I TOTALLY sympathize with you on this. You never give your characters a huge unearned advantage like that early on, because it will totally dominate everything from that point forward. Once as a DM for a tabletop RPG I accidentally created a majorly overpowered item that would amplify magic, which of course my players immediately tried to exploit at each and every possible turn, and I ended up spending FAR too much time thinking of limitations about how the players could use this, and making it dangerous to use, etc. Of course there was no way to build such a limitation into the game for yourself, like for example to make the chest usable only once per 7 in game days, or have a random chance that it would either spawn as a Mimic chest and try to eat him or randomly destroy one of his items, from a gold piece to a super rare artifact. That would have at least made it a bit more tolerable.

I never suspected anything wrong with chapter 1 episode 10, but when chapter 9 episode 33 came out, I was like "Didn't he made the connection between the sound and the chest a bit too quickly...? Did Gopher already knew about it...?" Now I know the answer...

Well actually Leonard heard the sound of the chest on at least two other occasions, and maybe even 3. But this time he heard it shortly after reading the journal that talked about the chest and the sound it makes :)

Gopher, you've created the character of Leonard so well, perhaps even too well, that I can't stand the thought that Leonard, and Inigo, will end and never return once this Let's Play is finished. I'd like to think Leonard could return in ES6 someday, with a good prelude backstory. If anyone could pull it off, I know Gopher could. Leonard has been absolute fun to follow right from the start. Thank Gopher!😄

I admire that kind of lunacy, and retconning that find was far and away the best call you could have made for Leonard's narrative at the time. I started a Legacy playthrough not long after I saw a bit of it in action in this series, and stumbled on that item while poking around a Forsworn redoubt outrageously early on myself (also having no idea it was even a thing until I found it). The convenience definitely spoiled me -- playing with Exchange Currency and weighted gold, I was expecting to do a lot more inventory management that game -- but I embraced it because it really was just a rare stroke of luck and didn't undermine the vibe of the character I wanted to play. And I still do the long walk of the looter when I unload it for a big city selling lap regardless.

Gopher, you're a lunatic and we love you for it :D Also I'm glad for the explanation because while I had completely forgotten that episode, as soon as you showed the lighthouse I remembered that something felt slightly off when I watched it and I never could put my finger on what. Nothing huge, nothing bad just a slight feeling of "something" that I could never understand. I then completely forgot about it until today and now I know that I'm not mad, you are :p And I know what happened and why I felt that strange feeling and believe it or not I feel better, it was still bothering me somewhere in the background of my very strange mind .... so it seems that I'm just as crazy as you in fact, let's make a club!
