Ya, lets talk about a "living wage." Lets have the 435 House Reps and the 60 Senators live on minimum was for a year and then our Congress will truly understand what a living wage is. My quess is that the 595 members of Congress would have to live in a 4 bedroom, 2 bath apartment to make ends meet. As soon as the Republivcans understand what it really means to be poor, we are all doomed. Supply and demand is irrevalant. Minimum wage is minimum wage and as prices rise min wage stays the same.

1:45 this explains how we end up with a revolving door economy. People are pressured to quit before they can build relationships. We never get to befriend people because the stress makes keeps us in a constant state of agitation. This might also explain why people are bombed with extra workloads. Too keep people too busy to socialize and befriend.
@phillipmarch2212 жыл бұрын
There is NO such thing as a living wage right now. Not even in the Unions. I worked for 5 years for a Union plumbing/HVAC company and very few of the guys worked for a wage that could support a family with 2 kids. The wife always had to work. I think every member of Congress should work for minimum wage for a year to see what it is like. They are sooooo out of touch. With the GOP it is always a race to the bottom when it comes to wages.

Upper management in these companies are told that the campaign to break the union is top priority. Productivity and profits can decline, yet as long as they're succeeding in breaking the union, they won't be held accountable. Think about that the next time you see a company in contract negotiations say they're going broke. Now we know why.

I just find it hard to believe that workers could be against Unions. Sure they have they're faults. Still the Unions in this and other countries have caused all workers to rise. My Union the USW has bent over backwards to keep the Steel Industry viable. We went backwards in wages in the 1980's. We never recouped those wages. We combined crafts inside the plants to help the company. They rewarded us by contracting our work out and reducing our numbers. We fought to make our workplace safer. They rewarded us by manipulating our safety committees. We have worked with them on Steel Tariffs for years. They rewarded us by giving multimillion dollar bonuses to CEO's. All the while the company was loosing money. They lagged behind in failing plants and equipment, while workers lost jobs and were injured or killed. Unless you are an insider like i am with 40 years in 5 different steel plants. You don't know what your talking about. It is an insult to all workers who have died and bleed to keep their jobs to comment on what you've been told. Union Forever!!

This is only one side of the coin. The truth is, businesses usually have a lot more leverage than you assume in the salary they pay their employees or the price they charge their customers. Ever been asked for your salary requirements in a job interview? It's a form of negotiation. Employers want you to give them your price first, because if your price is less than they were willing to pay you, that's the salary you'll start at. So, you are only looking at it from one side of the coin.

Your taxes go towards helping children get an education who otherwise may not be able to afford private schooling. Because of that education they grow up to get a good job. Because of that job they have money to pay their bills and support the economy. Education is the cornerstone of prosperity. Where there is no public education, there is no prosperity. In short, the money taxpayers spend on social programs such as education benefit us as individuals, so why should we also not contribute?
@BFJ62812 жыл бұрын
No you're not. Minimum wage employers don't always pay WAY over the required minimum wage, they might pay .25c over, and then cut hours so they don't have to pay benefits. The exception to this might be Costco, run by a Democrat, which does pay WAY above minimum wage (2x over w/full benefits) and is quite profitable. Proof other companies can afford to do the same, but they don't. Do you REALLY think it's because their margins are so tight they cannot afford to?

*"And your so-called union bosses. How much do you think THEY are making off of your back?"* Well, since their salaries are public knowledge and they're obligated to give us a annual statement about the finances of the national, I have a much better idea than most investors do about the board of directors of corporations. *"It's none of your business why or how much a corporation makes."* Wrong! Ever hear of the SEC? Well they mandate that corporations publish their finances every year. You don't have any idea about corporations, do you, billy? *"Yeah, sure, it's easy to blame management for raking in billions and not giving raises or benefits to the employees."* Especially when CEO compensation is almost 400 times the compensation of their employees. You think the shareholders and employees of Enron and Lehman Brothers thought their CEO's were worth all the money they paid them to bankrupt? You want to try to find any HP employees and shareholders that have anything good to say about Carly Fiorina? *"You don't like it? Go start your own business, then you will know."* So that's your solution? Like or leave it? I'm quite sure your bosses just love you. I hope you have a good medical plan because bowing and scraping take a lot out of your knees and back. By the way, what's the name of YOUR company? Would it be found in the Fortune 500? Or is the company you work FOR listed? *" BTW, collectivism or collective bargaining equals Communism."* Wow, Captain Obvious, that's the EXACT definition of Communism along with the very country you're living in. Don't believe me? Take a look at the Constitution; what's the first 3 words? "We. The. People." See, all this time you've been a communist and didn't even know it. Peace, "comrade".
