25 hours is just the "magic number" across the board. That ain't reality. Reality is workers get told work 15 hours here 10 the next week and after that go back up to 19 hours all at 14 ish an hour. These "companies" say they are too broke for it, and that's all they can do. If they pay workers more and give the ones who want a 40 a 40, that it would bankrupt the ENTIRE corporation. Or they can't do it cuz they ain't connected to the Main Company if they bought rights to operate via Royalty fees (which essentially means whoever this is is supposed to be financially independent and is paying to use rights.) I'd love to see one of these "CEOs" publicly asked why they support 25 hours and not 40 for those who want it and for non-managerial. Just so I can see his reaction.

If multinational corporations paid a living wage, no matter if you are full or part time employees, more individuals who need a full time job but have to work 2 or even 3 part time jobs to make ends meet, we would have a middle class. Currently the middle class is shrinking because companies like Star Bucks pretty much hire a bunch of part time workers. Why? Because currently, companies can pay part timers less than minimum wage. Another tactic is to do a deep dive into a current employee's life. Case in point: A big company requires you to list any and all run ins with the law, on the employment application. So say you got a speeding ticket 10 yrs ago. By now it's no longer affecting your insurance and as far as you are concerned it's ancient history. I saw a new employee who had been hired because of his expertise. The company *paid* him to move to another state. They fired him because he *"lied"* on his employment application. I don't know if he had to reimburse the company for the moving expenses, but it's stupid stuff like that, that companies use to *"cut"* overhead. Why hold something as trivial as a 10 yr old traffic ticket against someone? I know of a police officer who had many traffic tickets as a teen, he recently retired after over 25 yrs in one PD. I think this tactic needs to be disallowed. Same company, the president of that company was exposed on national TV for having paid a diploma mill for a degree, that said he'd attended college to earn it. The company protected him, saying we hired him for his expertise not a diploma. He departed a couple of years later. Why wasn't he fired immediately, why was he allowed to spend a few more years as President and CEO of a multinational company, why wasn't he fired immediately? Face! The company did it to *"save"* face. They pretended to know all along, probably so they wouldn't lose customers over being scammed...
