Legendary album for me...one of the best drum performance of all time. Their come back album was great too🤘

Loved Confessor. My good friend's band Betrayer from Wilmington would open with Confessor and then Corrosion of Conformity. Steve Sheldon was an amazing drummer.

I was heavily into this album back when it came out. Loved the drumming and the vocals. I remember reading an interview with the drummer back then. He said he did not see himself as a special or technical drummer. He said he was self taught and that was just his natural style.

Yet another great album I wouldn’t have heard if it weren’t for this channel. This one is so unique, from the vocals to the riffing. \m/

I bought this album when it came out on cassette. My only information on the band was from seeing the guys in paradise lost wearing a shirt from the band. I was honestly shocked when I heard the band. Had no real frame of reference for what inwas hearing. So completely unique for the time.

No one else sounds like Confessor, and that's impressive in this day and age.

Got this on cd about when it came out, and it’s a treasure in my collection. Nothing messy about it! I feel in balance when listening to this. Best drummer in the world!

Interesting question from Ben. I think it's not a universal constant but certainly albums can make or break on a drum performance. What came to mind is the latest Drudkh album from 2022. The drum playing is great but the production makes it sound like the coconut banging from Monty Python's Holy Grail was sped up and that ruins the otherwise perfect album to me. As for a drum first album I would go with all three of the albums from Brutus. They are a Belgian post-hardcore, post-metal, and math rock band with a female singer who is also their incredible drummer.

I've loved this album since it came out but I was about the only one of my friends who did. Usually I hate high vocals but this just clicks for me for some weird reason. Although listening to it after your commentary it sounds even more disjointed than I remember so I look forward to waiting a while for your opinions to wear off :) Saw them live at MDF 2012 and the crowd didn't really know what to do except for two separate one man moshpits which was hilarious. His voice was spot on live though 30 years later

I love this album, and I have no idea why I love it. There’s nothing I can even sing along to, but the overall vibe is just… I just love it!

I love this album! Recently paid 60 Euros to get it on vinyl, had it on CD since it came out.Very unique blend of Doom and technical Progressive Metal. Watchtower meets Trouble as someone in the Chat said is very apt. The other stuff they put out is good too, but they never reached that quality again. The drumming is insane on this album!

Steve Shelton was a huge influence for Thomas Haake ( Meshuggah). He told it himself in many interview.

It takes a bit of getting used to. The drummer is awesome he does cymbal chokes with the hand he just hit the cymbal with. I always think the singer sound like Kat Bjelland from Babes in Toyland Drum album : World Downfall
