Before there was "The National Enquirer"...Before there was TMZ....there was "Confidential Magazine", the publication that struck fear into the heart of Hollywood in the 1950's. Hosted by Maury Povich. Written and produced by Nancy Gershwin.

Tab Hunter says he was the actor outed to protect Rock Hudson, and he says that came about because his agent also represented Rock Hudson and Hudson was making more money for the agent. The Confidential was squeezing the agent about Hudson, so the agent gave him Hunter to keep Hudson "clean." All the people they talk about on this show or on E's Mysteries and Scandals are dead. The family of a dead person can't pursue libel charges, so the guys making big bucks off these shows don't care about the truth. They'll say whatever they want to make the story better. They aren't journalists, so there's no ethics involved in what they do. Also, since these people are dead, you'd think there would be surviving witnesses who would talk about these episodes, so Maury Povich wouldn't have to use yesteryear's gumshoes or somebody's kid for his interviews. Actual witnesses would be a real show. This is lazy, cheap-to-make crap TV that doesn't tell you anything more than what you already knew. The forerunner of reality TV.

Brenda Starr Tab may have conveyed that in interviews, but most documentation shows Rory Calhoun was the 'Sacrificial Lamb, ' in that scandal. The story that hurt Tab was 'how he was beating his dog.' Whether true or not , it made a horrible impact on all the kids that were his fans. I didn't know Tab was gay until I met him in a gay bar .

@@@bwayland1290, Confucius said that the beginning of wisdom is to call things by their proper names. So, I call a homosexual a homosexual and avoid the term "gay." Why was the term "gay" stolen and applied to perverts? To conceal the truth?

@@@autobug2, You assume that which is untrue. I am not pure and I don't dwell. You have spewed pejoratives and that only harms you. I have just stated the facts.
