Configuring Your Emlid Reach RS2/RS3 as a Base for Your Drone (Latest)

In this video tutorial we will go through a step by step process to configure our RS2/RS2+/RS3 as a base for our RTK DJI drone using the Emlid Flow app and the DJI Pilot app. Current as of December 8th, 2023, RS2/RS3 FW version 31.8.

I’ve got the "save failed" window each time I tried to put the local Ntrip in the controller, I do not manage to save the local Ntrip in it. I will try again, not so easy.

If you're drone controller is connected to the wifi hotspot of the receiver, you have a base marker set in your base, and your credentials match you should be able to save. I would double check the credentials. Things like the mountpoint and password are case sensitive. Also, is there anything about your setup that differs from this? For example are you connecting your devices through a cellular wifi router?

So am I right to understand that you wouldn't set any corrections input on the flow app when you're working in an area without internet access? The fact that it states "waiting for a fix" is not an issue? It'll use the averaged point you collected as the base station's coordinates?

Correct, your drone will still have a fix. It will be cm accurate in relation to your base, if you post process your base point and use that point to post process the rest of your data, you will have both relative and absolute accuracy.

Where do the corrections go from the base please? Are they going to the controller and then broadcast to drone or do they go directly from base to drone?

Hi Patrick, does this method not require the rs3 station to have a “fix”? On the emlid flow app it says still waiting for fix, but I see you mentioned that it did have a fix after connecting to the drone properly. Thank you for the video!

Your base doesn't necessarily need a fix. The corrections coming from your base, even with a single solution there, combined with the satellites the RTK module is observing will allow your drone to have a fix solution and will be cm accurate in relation to your base. You can set your base up over a known point or you can post process your base marker (kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJaTl6CwZ6Zmqs0 ) to give your data absolute accuracy.

Can use emlid as a base station for DJI Air 3

No, the Emlid bases work with the RTK module in DJI's Enterprise Drones. As far as I'm aware the consumer drones like the Air 3 don't have that ability.
