@@freeglu I also think much of crypto investing, and especially memecoins, have a huge element of late-stage capitalist FOMO. People very close to me, who were vocal opponents of crypto at large, were scrambling to make Coinbase and Robinhood accounts because - in their words - they were sick of being broke while watching obnoxious jaggoffs buy Lambos and Teslas with the Bitcoin they bought ten years ago to buy weed off Silk Road in high school. I don't have sympathy for the crypto economy at large, but the low-income players are marks being taken advantage of by exploiting their genuine, valid frustrations with the rat race that is being poor. The people in that demographic that I know, who HAVE invested in crypto (or memestocks), have such little understanding of finance that even the concept you describe is beyond them. They buy the coins because they think they found a way to game a lottery and get a winning ticket. Shady crypto marketing reflects this, and these people are largely the ones left holding the bag.

my thought process was: first thing I'd probably do is sell the house. you could get lucky and find a smaller apartment for $650 a month. me and my friend found some decent ones in our small college town. he would probably have to move. in the process of changing to a smaller space, he'd be forced to sell unnecessary items, making room and getting aa nice bit of cash. then you go on a pretty strict diet. not cuz of losing weight but because buying extra food or eating out will deteriorate your finances. I definitely think he could live off that $3500. maybe not super comfortabl, but enough that he'd be able to stay afloat until circumstances improved
@StarxLolita3 ай бұрын
@@aquatiger8 Given where he lives, it's not even a matter of not being comfortable. $3500/mo is plenty, and he's probably lowballing how much he actually makes. He's just so out of touch with how much it takes for normal people to live that he thinks saying he makes $3500/mo is awful and not just. Straight up good money. It's not extreme wealth but he's middle class on it, and it's honestly enough. He's also a big liar with the rest of it. He's totally eligible for medicare and is probably receiving RSDI considering how long he worked. His medical bills are probably not as insane as he says they are. He just lies, lies, lies.
