I confronted someone who had been following and harassing me. Luckily there was a police car not far away from us. Hopefully this bellend understands why what he did was wrong (although probably not) but at least he now knows how serious the consequences of him treating women like this could have been.
A random onlooker was also a hero here. He didn't need to get involved, but he did. If you ever find yourself in that man's shoes, watching a woman get harassed, please act accordingly. The only reason people like the guy in the brown jacket get away with what they do is because a) They're complete morons, b) people don't report it and c) Not enough people are willing to step in and help as the man in the blue/black jacket did.
Please read all of the message at the end of this video before commenting that this was an 'over reaction' or 'a bit much'.
If you have never experienced street harassment in your life please do the people who DO experience it a the courtesy of keeping your opinion to yourself because you will not understand.
If you feel unsafe, or like you are being followed, call the police. If you are on London transport and you need to report something/someone text 61016 with as much detail as possible or call 101.

This video legitimately has me in tears, having been spiked by someone who physically assaulted me and later on I was made to believe I wanted to be a part of it by on lookers, this is so real. Cat callers can so easily say I that didnt happen that way and witnesses wont bring themselves forward, I'm so glad you're making people aware of the reality x

Well done you meg and the other guy is a true gentleman which the world needs more of. This sady happens all the time to woman and girks if all ages. This has actually happened to myself and I've seen even seen young teenage school girls approached by much older men, I stepped in, because i felt i needed to because so many people didn't, i confronted this sicko and was dealt with a barrage of abuse. So wrong! I wish that more people would speak up and be like the gentleman that stepped in and help you.

Well handled... my only observation and I see it so often, is that people ARE NOT AWARE OF THEIR OWN SURROUNDINGS. Headphones in, or hypnotised by their phones it only takes a second for s**t to go south in a hurry if you are not aware of things and the people around you. There are too many people out here nowadays looking to do dirty and thinking its not going to happen to me only prepares you to be more of the victim. You just proved it … you didn't wake up thinking you were going to be harassed. Be aware and stay safe.

Must be a small town but my question is what is considered following mabe he jusr happen to be behind her or mabe she just happen to get in front of him. Im in New York City & here its easy to be behind someone walking down the street accidentally or not. Now if he was behind her all the way to where she was gojng that raises suspiciousness i would have asked him where he was going. People are quick to assume these days.

All you peeps need to calm down, there was no crime committed by the guy, there has to be two recorded instance before harrasment becomes a crime. Snowflake Megan was the one following this guy continuously and filming him without his permission. Yes the guy was a little rude maybe but that does not give her the right to take matters into her own hands. Don't play the woman card, slander this guy and think you're Above the Law cos you a woman.

I'm SORRY, fan of skins yes, fan you as an actress yes, BUT.. this is the reason why I'm leaving the UK after 14 years, I'm italian and I really don't get this stupid culture here in the UK, it's absolutely ridiculous. Nothing personal Megan, I'm sure you're a nice woman and all, but this whole thing is way too exaggerated, I could go and tell you my story as a 45 year old italian male in the London, but I'm sure you won't have time and probably won't understand me... but again, this is way too extreme, not defending him or you, just saying that after what happened to me, and seeing your videos ( about this matter ) and other things happening in London/UK, it's time for me to go back home, to each its own I guess. In a way the show skins shows a bit of what the english culture really is... take care

Hi there. I'd love to understand why you think that a man harassing a woman while she walks down the street is acceptable and why, when being hounded by a stranger, it is 'extreme' to want this man to respect my human right to walk down the street safely? I have all the time in the world for matters like this, so please do elaborate.
@insanityfilms
@insanityfilms 2 жыл бұрын
@@MegPrescott Hi Megan ! Of course I'll elaborate: First of all, obviously is not acceptable whatsoever. This is hard to explain because I'm italian and we have different culture and approaches to these kinda things, so I'll do my best to do so without offending anyone or sounding "not right"... All I'm saying is that in the UK these situations are taken way too seriously and people overreact too much on events like this, maybe not your case, but in general... on your case lets see. I came here 14 years ago and I love the uk and its culture, especially north england ( derby ), now london is different, it's a crazy city, and somehow dangerous too, so I totally get why you got scared or bothered. Few things to keep in mind, you are ( we can say ) a public figure, being famous/popular or somehow known to the public puts you in the spotlight, for the best or the worse is something you gotta deal with, and I say it's a blessing... But doesn't mean people have the rights to come to you all the time and annoying you, even tho I'm sure most people will just come to you and say hi, take a selfie, and if it's people like me, probably have a chat and talk about the making of, behind the scenes of your movies/tv series, ... BUT... now knowing how you would react, I would feel locked to come close to you or even cross path or looking back and smile, everything you do in this country is always seen as negative, weather is a smile, a hello, the beginning of a conversation... I always feel blocked not to do so for fear of negative reaction... Not everyone is mean or evil or have bad intentions... I'm an observer, I "study people", I watch and notice... doesn't mean I'm a stalker, you know what I mean ? On this video, you are following him and filming him, making him look like the bad guy, but I don't see that to be honest. of course we cant' see what happened before... Example, I'm a small filmmaker( comedy actor too )... and also have a small skateboarding company, where I teach kids ( the dangerous words !!! ) to skate... Started 3 years ago, and now stopped, because my being too social, open minded, chatty, giving and very outgoing has been transformed in being a sex offender ! it's absolutely crazy... teenagers/kids started throwing rumours about me harassing young girls at skateparks and stuff... it got worse to the point I couldn't go to skateparks anymore, being labeled like this, sticks forever... just because I talk to everyone regarding age, gender, heritage, doesn't mean I'm a sex offender... Here in the UK/London... if you talk to a young kid... oh shit ! a nonce ! it's insane !!! Whatever you do, always the worse is considered but the real reason. Oh and I'm a father, have 17 year old daughter... and I have worked with kids my all life, I love kids... ( this sentence "I love kids", has been thrown at me as a meme for months)... And it hurt me a lot... gutted... Another example of being italian in the uk, and another one being italian in italy: If I'm at the skatepark, and I take my trousers off in front of kids and friends to show a tattoo or something on my legs, like a bruise... here I'm sure someone will call the police immediately and you'd be labeled as sex offender for life. In italy if you do that, nothing happens ( and it happened ) .. I was there at a skatepark in my home town, with another over 40 man skate teacher, and we talked about falls... all his students were there, and suddenly he took is trousers down to show me a bruise near his leg/groin... I freaked out and said, dude ! what you doing ? all the kids !!! and then I was like... oh shit I'm italy, this is totally fine and I laughed ! nobody said nothing, kids were fine, nobody even noticed it... So my point is that we gotta take in account how to react to things properly and ponder our decisions. Another note is that I'm aware that most of these stalkers or people harassing you/and others, are not English, so WE NEED to consider other cultures too... hence why we have brexit now... for the English people ( most of them ) make sense because the culture is too different, and let me say very closed minded, unless drunk.. and this is the truth about english population... I was in Derby from 2008 and 2010, a dear colleague of mine was very private and reserved, I'm italian and hug everyone, he was getting very pissed off when I did that, saying DONT touch me, english people don't like to be touched... RIGHT... the same night we were out, he was drunk and he was licking and kissing my head and face... So you see, doesn't make sense. I'm sorry but I see this as over exaggerated in many of these events... I'm to the point where I'm thinking 5 times before saying or doing anything, and that means not being myself You will experience this again I'm sure, hopefully it'll go in a different direction. Also this filming phone thing is very silly. Did you consider answering in a different way ? Without throwing more fire in the fire ? Just saying... I can see you're a feisty/fiery woman, and that's cool, so use that to get them off your back in one shot, don't give them chance to answer you back, or simply total ignore and walk away. Lastly, a week ago I met an actress from skin season 5 at the pub, I noticed her, but didn't say anything ( I wanted to ), but then went to pool table and she was there and of course we started talking, told her I was huge fan of the show, we spoke about that for a bit, was lovely. So my question for you is: If I see you, do I have to ignore you completely ? Can I say hello to you, acknowledging that I recognized you ? How should I approach you ? if I should... 20 years ago all of this would have been considered absolutely futile. Pardon for my english if I made some mistakes, still huge fan of yours and your sister, thanks for the opportunity to speak out, wish you a nice day. PS: be happy to risponde to this with a video too.. I talk a lot ;) Alessio.
