Hey Conley, is there a cotton gin nearby in the mountains or do you take it back to Grimes County. Did you get any moisture over the holidays?
@conleybanman10 ай бұрын
Nope it all goes back to Gaines and no moisture just a lot of humid and foggy days

Up on the northern high plains of Texas we finished hauling to the gin last Saturday. Do you still have cotton up north? We planted only 1/2 of our normal acres. It made 2.33 bales, last year got 2.9 bales/ac. We put on 1" in August to keep watering corn in the Summer.

Yeah we still have cotton up north definitely not doing as good as down south. A lot more heat than usual plus a really late rain gave us a lot of immature bolls that got boll locked and didn’t make anything

Take what ya can get when ya can get it = sloppy 2nds. Considering the nature of the plant you don't seem to get much fluff build up on the machine. Do you wipe it down at every pee stop? The cotton fluff would be very fire prone I imagine . I wonder what most cotton is used for. I liked seeing your reflection in the back window. Good video. Pax.

Did you grow up in Dell City? Do they have a high school there? Where do you have to truck the cotton to? Not many gins nearby. Can you see the Blue Origins launches? Bet you are pretty good at repairs because it is a good drive to the nearest dealer!
@conleybanman10 ай бұрын
We haul all our cotton to Oasis Gin so it’s definitely a good drive. But we didn’t grow up in dell we took over that land not too long ago but yes you kind of have to get good at repairs and have to have a lot of parts on hand

Hey Conley, did you use chemical defoliant or wait for a freeze?
@conleybanman10 ай бұрын
We use a defoliant it works better than a freeze

So are the pickers yours too? Or is it like peas or seed corn where they send a harvest crew and equipment to take the crop off for you? Or do you contract out your harvest and just have your own machine for clean up like this?
@conleybanman10 ай бұрын
Nope we own it all just sometimes we need a picker and sometimes a stripper. The only thing that we don’t harvest ourselves is corn for silage that the dairy comes and takes it themselves

Good afternoon Conley. Do you sell cotton worldwide, or is it mostly for the US markets. 👍
