Noticed you were still running autotrac. To get rowsense to work you have to go into guidance menu. Change from automatic to manual and then select rowsense. Our pickers will go back to autotrac every time you shut them off. If you don't select manual it will tell you you need a subscription. Hope it helps. Drove me crazy until i figured it out

Howdy Conley, just wanted to make a comment about the cleaning process. I’m over east in South Georgia and some people do use air compressors to clean the machines but the most common practice I’ve seen is using the big backpack leaf blowers. They’ll still clean the machine and you don’t have to rely on having an air compressor handy. Just washed to share that idea
@conleybanman
@conleybanman 26 күн бұрын
Yea I did that last year and it was nice but I think I still prefer the big air compressor more air

And it turns we share a last name. What part of America are you? We all really peanuts. Hope i hear back from you. Thank you for being a farmer.

Being a cattle farmer in Va I know nothing about cotton. What does a bale of cotton bring?
@conleybanman
@conleybanman Ай бұрын
One round bale can weigh up to 5,000 pounds and contains about 3-4 ginned bales depending on if it was made by a picker or stripper. A ginned bale weighs 500 pounds and can make about 215 pairs of jeans

Everything in our area is irrigated we only get about 4-8 inches of rain per year so we can only farm what’s getting irrigated

What's the difference in a picker and a stripper?
@Farmkid2009
@Farmkid2009 Ай бұрын
The main difference is that a picker just picks the bowls off of the cotton where a stripper takes in more of the plant and seperates the straw from the cotton in the stripper.
@justingriffin7197
@justingriffin7197 27 күн бұрын
Pickers harvest a cleaner cotton which means more money for the product usually. Strippers harvest dirtier cotton but tend to harvest faster. The old school cotton pickers would have to go over a field several times to get all the cotton, I’m not sure with the new machines.
@conleybanman
@conleybanman 26 күн бұрын
Not necessarily dirtier cotton but yes they do pay more for picker cotton than stripper cotton. And in good cotton I’d say pickers are faster. Main reason why we use strippers is because a lot of times we’ll end up have short cotton and that’s where the stripper thrives and the picker can leave up to a bale on just the bottom of the plants. So that’s why we have both machines. But you could talk for days about this subject there’s many reasons why you’d choose one over the other

I have had bad sensor beep syndrome with our Claas combines. A pair of ear defenders works wonders while the sensor is on it's way. In your situation, you could roll up a piece of cotton for each ear and fill the void in the ear defenders with more cotton so you can keep going and not go insane! Anyway, its nice to finish that last field of cotton.
