Oh my god. Dude, thank you. This is what I needed. i knew I was missing something when doing the NAT config part. I didn't do the IP ROUTE part .-. lol
@BuayaGuy7 жыл бұрын
This was a huge help getting my Cisco 1841 hooked through my Netgear home router. But one thing I'm not really sure about - When I went to check my switch after the router config was done, it *did* do the same thing that yours did - assigned that IP address to VLAN 1. Couple of questions though: 1. Why did it assign it to VLAN 1 (what command did we type in the router to make it do that?) 2. Can I *change* which VLAN that address gets assigned to? I have 2 computers I'll be hooking through the switch, only one of which will be using that IP we created, so I'd like it to be assigned to its own VLAN, rather than having to pull all of the other interfaces out of VLAN 1 into a new one (unless that's the only way to do it.) Thanks again, this was a great video!

In this example is the cisco router doing the routing of the netgear doing the routering/pushing the packets to the next hop? It would be good if you could just go from router to public ip and use the netgear to authenticate. This is a great tutorial. Not sure if my question even makes sense. Little help..

Change the DNS to the DNS of your internet router...example: look into your comcast or verizon assigned router and copy that DNS ip and use that instead of the 8.8.8.8

Great video! However, I got stuck while configuring my router to get the DHCP IP that was assigned to it when I plugged into int g0/0 from my ISP Gateway. I did a "no shutdown" and then a "ip address dhcp" . It just brings me to the next command entry without showing me the dynamic assigned IP info. Any ideas?
@Bruce.-Wayne5 жыл бұрын
Your int gi0/0 should look like this: Int g0/0 Ip address DHCP Ip nat outside No shut ......also, do a "sh ip int br" to verify if interface g0/0 is getting an address

My friend, Thank you for the info. I have a question. Well, like i said, i am able to complete the configuration from start to end, it is just that when i connect a cat 5 from my switch to a pc, and after I enable the network adapter, it tells me unidentified network and it will not allow me to get on the internet from that pc. Keep in mind that i can ping the pc from the switch with no problem.

I don't have two Ethernet adapters, I only have one. I am connected with my Verizon Router -to- Cisco Router -to- Cisco Switch -to- PC. I followed all the steps but at the end 17:56 when you switched off one adapter and turned on another. I don't have the 2nd adapter/ Network. My PC did get a 192.168.2.4 via dhcp with Def Gtwy of 192.168.2.1. I can ping 8.8.8.8 (Success) from the Router PuTTY console. What am I doing wrong here ?
@Jobskillshare6 жыл бұрын
Second adaptor is not needed in your case. I have two physical adaptors one connected to internet one to switch. I think if you can access internet that's all you need.
@w_i_k_i_d6 жыл бұрын
I followed your whole setup but still at the end I am unable to connect to internet. The cable between your Netgear router and Cisco Router is a Cross over cable? Or any Ethernet cable will work. I was able to ping 8.8.8.8 from the Cisco Router PuTTY.
@nonya54137 жыл бұрын
I have the same exact router 2821. only my image version is 15. when i enable DHCP on G0/0 - it does not assign an IP address! G0/0 says DHCP is UP and UP and no IP. I have the cable connected from my netgear to the g0/0 interface. whats happening?
