No I didn't make any alterations t the radio or car. My car has the factory bluetooth built in for both the phone calls and Music. This was a dealer option so not all cars have it fitted

I think some cars come equipped with the option to play music via Bluetooth and some don’t, mine doesn’t, I can only receive calls via Bluetooth. I’ve bought an aux Bluetooth piece which is gonna arrive from post soon so hoping that does the trick.

Hang on mines different. Doesn't have a Bluetooth setting. However when the aux is in anyone else's phone, the bmw connects to my phone and I can control the music !

I believe you can't do with Spotify. In order to solve this, you would need an adaptec which connets via USB and 3.5mm jack

I had no problem with this, my problem is getting the car to play music from the iPhone. Specifically, Spotify but I've also tried iTunes or whatever they call that now and neither works. If it can send and receive an audio signal through the telephone it seems it should be able to do this but I've tried many times and ready to give up on it. Any idea what I'm missing?

The phone calls and music are different Bluetooth options. Not all cars came with both. They were an option turned on at the dealer and you need the right Bluetooth module. MRT

If you just see 2 dashes where it says “TEL” you have Bluetooth but the module is faulty, if you replace the module it should work fine

I would ring your local BMW dealer with your vin number ready. See if they can still do it. It was an option that you could pay to get added.
