If you're looking at a simple method to how to BREAK OUT of the pentatonic box 1 pattern and link pentatonic shapes YOU NEED TO TRY THIS!
In this live lesson accompanied by downloadable PDF, I'll show you one of the many secrets I know for moving around the guitar fretboard with freedom.
You'll learn all about "elevator triangles" that enables you to travel between all 5 pentatonic scale boxes on guitar. The example given is in the key of a minor.

I know this comment is late to the party but....so am I so here goes. This triangle map is fantastic thank you, but this triangle map does it link up with the grid you show in the "play chord tones in any key" video? Meaning that if you could visualize the grid as well as this wonderful triangle map you could play all of the pentatonic positions in any key AND combine chord tones as well?

Fantastic cause I was away from my guitar when I watched this video and was trying to visualize the link. Ricky, I have also been playing guitar for a long time and some of these things you teach I was familiar with, but then you through in the those AHHA moments that blow my mind, that I never new them! You are awesome teacher, brother thank you so much! I feel like I’ve been stuck in the medium to high end intermediate player status for years. Like I was stuck in Guitar Jail with a life sentence. But your teaching has inspired me to realize I can get out of Jail. I’m sticking with you brother. I bought your book and I’m plugging through it. Using the cage system has always just not made applicable sense to me either. But I think once I get the CAGE patterns in you book down in all keys like the back of my hand then I may figure out how to apply them…❤

Interesting. Easy to do for sure if doing triangles in a row. But, jumping around triangles back and forth is not easy as the triangles don't seem to be tied to notes in a scale in way that's any easier to "see" than the 5 Boxes.. And, one needs to play the other notes besides the triangle notes. I navigate off the note I want to play next in a 1-5 box; that seems easier to "see" for me. What an I missing? Been working at guitar for 2 1/2 years.

This lesson is another good step in learning the notes of the fretboard. However this lesson will also get you to fail Trigonometry. An Isosceles Triangle must have two equal sides. The "Big T" that is depicted here does not have two equal sides. It's most likely labeled as a Scalene Triangle, with all angles and sides being unique. But who really cares as long as we can learn to play the pentatonic scales across the entire fretboard. Cheers from Florida.

Haha Bob :) EVERYONE is getting me up to speed on triangle terminology lol! Strangely it reminds me of when I failed my driving test the first time I took it because I wasn't 100% on how to use roundabouts. Need less to say that error forced me to educate myself. Consequently I am now a roundabout curmudgeon as I KNOW 100% what the rules are. It's super amazing when you think failures is really another opportunity to learn. Thanks for watching!

You’re teaching good stuff but it takes you SO long to get to the point! I know it’s your style, but maybe consider cutting out some of the digressions. Or do a quick summary so the more advanced folks see what you’re getting to, and to give a quick gist, THEN go into details to flesh out the explanation for the less-experienced folks.

Perhaps I’m missing something but seems still have to know the full box shape cold (or you are always ascending/descending a full octave) to use this method. If, for example your descending the elevator and you play a small triangle you know the next lower one is a big triangle. However, there is nothing about that big triangle that tells you whether the next lower shape should be a small triangle or a right triangle. Same issue ascending.

Sorry about that John. I obviously need to refilm this, which I will do. Struggling to keep my music school open right now though so no promises it will be soon

Hey Ricky! Thanks for replying to all my previous comments. This lesson is mind expanding. I am about to practice riding the elevator the rest of the night! BTW, anyone else reading this comment, I just bought the book and so far the book has explained everything that I NEED to know clearly! Cheers!🤯
