Connect Rode Podmic USB to iPhone

When I got my PodMic USB I looked at it from the aspect of: future proofing, efficiency when I travel, and saving time. Yes, at the surface it’s expensive but when you look at all the things I’ve mentioned above, financially it’s pretty cheap given what you get back in return. To me it makes sense. Great video!

Thanks for this video, I have been mulling over mics for a while, and this one tops my list. Knowing it will work with my iPhone 14 (with the right connector) is a bonus, though mostly I will be using it with my MacBook Pro or a Sony ZV-1. Thanks!

Doesn’t work with iPhone 15. You can barely hear the audio. I think it’s a firmware issue with Rode.

Yes you should be able to go USB C to USB C. Just make sure you’re using the Rode Cable that’s included with it

In the video, you can see that I’m using the Rode Capture App where you can see the gain. You can also use the Rode Central App to check the gain on the mic

I’m not sure I understand your question. You would use the Podmic instead of your phone’s internal mic to record your videos with.

HI. Have tried it and it won't record audio. The levels show as does the mic in the rode capture app, but playback is silent! Any suggestions? I bought the rode SC19 cable lightning to USB and have an iphone 12 pro

I want to make sure I understand correctly. If you’re using the Rode Capture or the Blackmagic App, both of which I recommend, then all you have to do is turn your phone. They both work in horizontal mode.

I an using rode reporter, rode capture, rode central & native iphone recorder. Eveything doesnt work and muted. I have tried in also in my iphone 7 & 12. Not working. Any ideas ?

I tried this yesterday set up my gain to 75 but it won’t go up as I speak I would have to raise my voice a lot so it could get there. Any suggestions?

@jctv787 ok. There does seem to be a known issue with the iPhone 15 that I’ve been seeing lately. Oddly enough it works on iPads with USB C.

When you connect the phone to the mic, do you go in Rode Central or Rode Capture to see if the microphone is showing?
