This video ended my hours of troubleshooting and researching, thank you so much! Some things to add if you're struggling with multiple speakers in addition to connecting your soundbar: - With this setup explained above, I was still able to have HDR settings on my gaming console. Gaming consoles also need the "Arc" HDMI port, but with the setup above and the console being plugged into the "In" port of the soundbar, everything works fine. - You can make sure all your speakers are connected together properly with the MusicCast app in the "Settings" -> "Edit" "Speaker set-up" line of the room you created. - If you're in the MusicCast app and messing around with the settings, you may not get live adjustments. At certain points I had to restart the video feed to get the surround sound back (i.e restart the gaming console or change the HDMI video you're currently in and then go back). Thanks again 🤙

You are one of the reasons I love people and we don't give each other enough credit! I don't know how I had my Yamaha sound bar hooked up to my Vizio tv earlier today but I tried to watch a movie tonight on DVD and I had no sound and like a dummy I just started unplugging cords thinking I needed to reroute some of them. The fact of the matter is that I did need to reroute one I just didn't know which or where until I did an internet search about how to hook my Vizio up to my Yamaha and my search directed me to your video. I followed your directions for hooking to a non-Sony TV and your instruction was direct and precise. I can't thank you enough! One of us in the house has a slight hearing impairment and blew the TV speakers which opened the need for a replacement. Yamaha has great sound so I bought that brand of sound bar and haven't been disappointed in the least. Everyone can hear just fine again while watching TV and now thanks to your instruction; everything is hooked up properly too! Seriously; thank you so very much for helping other human beings not as technically proficient as you! *Thank you; thank you; thank you!* BTW; you have a new subscriber! *EDIT:* Oh hey; the Cable remote now controls the sound bar too! Before using your instructions we had to use the sound bar remote for sound, a slight inconvenience, but now we don't have to. Thanks so much again! Have a great week!

Thanks for the kind words, and I agree with direct and precise. The hookup instructions would work with any brand of TV and soundbar that has these features. Yes by hooking up your equipment with ARC you get to eliminate the soundbar remote, as the volume on the TV remote streaming device, cable box etc.. will work with the soundbar. If you notice your Yamaha soundbar turning off if you pause your DVR this video should take care of that. They have an auto turn off feature that turns the soundbar off if it detects no audio after a short period of time. That usually comes turned on by default Extended length video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZinh4eoZdSLeassi=wJK9NYwLw8R-YNAQ Short: kzbin.infoIyo6BKtc0kk?si=QbyYcdWXGg_yAyl8

Unplug all items except your soundbar and cable box or streaming device from the TV. See if this continues. If it stops one of the devices you unplugged is causing it. Unless there is an audio setting in the menu, there would not be a way to enable the digital output while using HDMI ARC. Question? I have the Yamaha Yas 109, the subwoofer doesn't come separate so I'm asking if I add a external subwoofer to the soundbar, will the subwoofer on the soundbar play high ends or continue playing the bass ?
@FisherElectronics4 жыл бұрын
When reading the manual of this bar it states you can add an external subwoofer to enhance the low bass. So being that is says enhance I don't think it turns off the subs in the soundbar. The bar would still offer the same mid and high range frequencies. if you get another sub, make sure it is powered (meaning it has an amplifier built in). Otherwise it will not work.

The sub is hardwired. I contacted SHU and they said their sub should work with the YSP1 Any Suggestions on getting the sub to work? All the lights (on sub) are on. Thank you Joe
@FisherElectronics3 жыл бұрын
When looking at those items, the subwoofer (or any sub) should be a powered sub, and it should be connected with the subwoofer out jack on the YSP1 soundbar to the LFE or sub input on the sub. If you still get no sound from the sub, you probably have a problem with the sub itself or maybe the soundbar sub output is not turned on. There would be no way to know unless you try a different powered sub, or move the sub to a receiver or another unit to troubleshoot.

Need a little bit of help....my Samsung Q60T Soundbar is connected to my Samsung Q60R TV HDMI ARC > HDMI ARC and I'm able to get Dolby Digital through the tv but it switches by itself to PCM when I use my google chromecast. When I use my Xbox Series X it works with Dolby Digital but there is an audio delay (half second). Here's the weird thing...this whole time on my tv settings it would say AV Samsung Q60T Soundbar but last night it said Receiver (HDMI) and all my sources worked with Dolby Digital with NO audio sync issues. Now I can't get back to that working. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!
@FisherElectronics3 жыл бұрын
That is a great question. These are problems that can sometimes take an hour to fix, days to fix, or maybe not get fixed. My initial thought is software bugs, or issues in which the soundbar doesn't like something about the audio from the TV, which may not like something from the xbox or chromecast. This is the downside to our world of electronics, it all runs on software, and it can be hard for everyone to play nice together. Things I would try, update software on all items, (TV, soundbar, xbox, chromecast...etc...) Call Samsung and see if you get lucky with setting changes. Also try going into audio settings of all devices, (xbox, chromecast, tv) and setting them the same, either dolby digital or PCM. PCM will be the better bet to be more reliable, but would not support dolby atmos if you cared about that. Those are things I can think of now, best of luck.
@kylebrandon20093 жыл бұрын
@@FisherElectronics PCM is good depending on what the device is. Sucks on Xbox I'd rather have dolby digital. Chromecast PCM isn't that bad sounds good. Ive tried everything you said. Today I'm trying a 3 ft hdmi arc cable from tv arc to Soundbar arc to see if that fixes. Maybe it's a latency issue

@@FisherElectronics yeah honestly I feel like it's something stupid and easy. Something keeps telling me that the arc cable I'm using right now that came with the Soundbar is having trouble taking sound from Xbox to tv then to the Soundbar. So if I change the cable to a 3 ft vs. the 4.5 I currently use maybe that latency changes
@FisherElectronics3 жыл бұрын
@@kylebrandon2009 Ive never seen the cable length (that short) cause those issues. Sure after you get past 25' if you don't have the right cable or do it differently things can happen. A defective or wrong type of cable would be more likely if it was related to the hdmi cable.

Why is using hdmi better than just using the optical cable? Is it actually better for the sound quality?
@FisherElectronics4 жыл бұрын
Using HDMI allows for ARC, if you connect it to a TV with an HDMI (ARC) input. That sends the audio back to the soundbar (on the HDMI cable), allowing your TV speakers to turn off. It also allows you to use the TV or satellite remote to control the soundbar volume. Generally you can eliminate the soundbar remote with ARC. Regarding audio. Optical and HDMI cables can do most of the same audio, however if you want Dolby atmos, then optical can't do that. You would need to use an HDMI cable while using eARC. (enhanced arc) The soundbar and TV would both need to have eARC HDMI connectors, or be upgraded to this with a firmware update from the manufacturer.

Fisher Electronics sweet, appreciate the reply. I just got a Yamaha sound bar from Costco and am trying to compare the audio to the 70s bookshelf speakers I have. They are really just kind of different, but based on what you said it doesn’t seem like an hdmi will really help the sound so I won’t get one. Also, I’m trying to figure out the best settings for the remote regarding the subwoofer settings (mine are two little side ones connected to the bar), surround vs stereo and so forth if your looking for an idea for another video. My particular sound bar is pretty much the same as in this video, just without a separate subwoofer.
@FisherElectronics4 жыл бұрын
@@taylorhardaway8031 I would still recommend getting a sub with an HDMI ARC connection instead of optical. Keep in mind if you do optical, you will have to use the soundbar remote to turn it on and off when the TV turns on and off, and also to control the volume. Regarding the controls, most yahama soundbars offer a clear voice option. This is the first choice we like. I have played with the 3d surround and surround option on our bar, and didn't hear much of a difference. So we like the clear voice feature, as clients always want to make sure they hear the voice the best.
@taylorhardaway80314 жыл бұрын
Fisher Electronics sweet again appreciate the response! My sound bar (Yamaha ATS-1080) can utilize an hdmi cord, but if it doesn’t help the sound I’d rather have the hdmi port used for my Blu Ray, Switch, and Roku stick and don’t really mind the extra controller. I’ve got all those same buttons for clear voice and stuff, but don’t really understand the difference. I’ve left it at 3d surround with probably 70% subwoofer. Thanks again.

This is most likely from the audio processing between your video source (cable box/streaming device), TV and soundbar. It may only happen on a few channels. You want to look at the audio settings in the source device (Cable box, streaming unit etc...) and change it to the basic audio settings, such as stereo, or PCM. Not something like dolby digital or digital plus. Do these same audio setting changes in the TV audio menu. If these settings are there that usually clears it up.
