I took one look at this grid and nearly said "nope." But in the end I persisted and got it figured out. Very odd puzzle!

We almost had the same solve, and I also couldn’t think of the “things you shake” category. Was too focused on what the words looked like and not what the objects represent.

Got through to the friends category and couldn't see it as I was too convinced that Ketchum must have some special American significance . Here the Ketchum company makes ear tags you put in cattle , sheep and pigs.

I do always upload spoiler-free thumbnails but unfortunately on some platforms such as mobile, KZbin ignores these and generates its own thumbnails.
