I love that you mentioned about going outside of the cities here and visiting the smaller towns and rural areas and mixing with the locals. As someone who works in Tourism here it's always my advice to do all the main things (if you have time) but most certainly take a trip or stop at the small towns and villages along the way to get a great insight into Ireland and our culture. I hope there's more Ireland videos to come, I've been a long time subscriber and even messaged you on Facebook years ago about coming to Ireland and seeing a gaelic football or hurling game but it looks like you did get some experience of that with the Mayo fans in Westport. All the best Conner, you done a grand job showing your stay here on our wee island.

Thanks so much for a great practical video about visiting Ireland without the "fluff" that some other travel videos tend to have. It was down to earth and the perfect length. 👍

The Agri-diesel is much cheaper than normal diesel or petrol as it has a lower tax applied to it, on the basis that it is used solely for agricultural uses. It is the exact same as normal diesel but with a coloured dye added to it. The Revenue (similar to the IRS), in conjunction with the Gardai (police) carry out random checkpoints where they will dip the tank of diesel vehicles to ensure they are using the appropriate type of diesel.

As an Indian I don't like most of the part of the British colonial legacy but this particular thing,driving on left is logical. From Sword in right hand to Steering in right hand it had stood the testimony of time. Love to British and Irish people!❤️💯

The agri diesel is ths same as as what you would put in your car. It has a lower excise duty on it. It is dyed green to prevent people putting it in their cars.

How long were you guys in Ireland? I’m from America and it would be me and my mom. We’re both women obviously but I can’t help but feel like it would be better to rent a car, but driving on the other side of the road is tripping me out, it’s not just driving on the opposite side, but the direction of the flow of traffic seems different too. We’re also only gonna be there for 3 days before heading to Paris, so idk how safe or smart it is to try to rent a car and explore the country as women. (We’d try to stick to the west coast of Ireland, but that still means some countryside driving)

That's totally different but you test everything 👋😂❤️

*standing in a field* "...is this a city...?" 🤣 The thing about driving on the left is that most people are right handed, so with the steering wheel on the right, it means that for most people, their dominant hand is the one that's always on the wheel and so you have more control. Places like the US, where the wheel is on the other side, are a left-handed person's dream.

I know you didn't mean anything derrogatory about saying the life is simple in the countryside but it its wrong many commute to jobs in town and either the farmers wife or he himself or both have jobs off farm very few are full time farmers.Irish planning laws were lax up to recently which meant living in the countryside was very easy and cheap to build houses which is very different to the rest of europe where you can only build in urban areas.They are thoroughly plugged into modern life a bit quieter and close to nature but its not like living in a wilderness miles from civilization

Time Ireland change to the other side of the road. No EU country should be driving on the British side!

So awkward! Why did ireland followed Britain in this awful driving position
@yermanoffthetelly11 ай бұрын
Ireland was an (unwilling) part of the UK from 1801 to 1922, the left hand driving rule was introduced in 1835. We didn't have much of a say in the matter unfortunately! 🤷
@gallowglass263010 ай бұрын
No choice in the matter most of the ireland is independent but six counties are in the UK so if we changed to the right and the brits didn't we would have severe difficulties trading with northern ireland .
@SpymoStreaming8 ай бұрын
@@yermanoffthetellySo why didn’t they switch when they gained independence in 1922. Sweden changed sides in 1967, so no one was stopping Ireland. It’s a cop out to blame the Brits.
@yermanoffthetelly8 ай бұрын
@@SpymoStreaming Because 90% of Swedes already drove left hand vehicles on the "wrong" side of the road pre switch leading to high levels of road fatalities when overtaking. All neighbouring countries to Sweden already drove on the right and weren't going to change. Made sense. That wasn't the case in Ireland, in fact it would have created the same problem Sweden faced pre switch, especially for anyone venturing over the border.

You know at one time half of Europe drove on the left? From Sweden to Austria, former Czechoslovakia to Portugal and so on? It’s also not an awful driving position. Most of us are right handed and you’re controlling the car with your right hand and only changing the gear with your left.
