This video will provide an update on my left breast nipple sparing mastectomy with an immediate placement of an implant.
Left breast mastectomy with immediate placement of breast implant October 29, 2020.
The tumor board met a week prior to my surgery and with an additional ultrasound to check the size of the tumor. The tumor was within the size away from the nipple (2cm) to be removed and save the nipple without any complications away from the skin. I had received 10 of 12 rounds of chemo.
Due to my low blood count for the month of October, I was hospitalized the entire time (8days) until my drains were removed. To go be discharged, my drains had to be at 20 ml. My surgeon was afraid of infection and I received antibiotics 3x/day.
Once I return to my doctor for my post-op appointment, I will receive further instructions on my next rounds of chemo and my pathology results.

CORRECTION - The distance from my nipple to my tumor was '2cm'. This was the distance the tumor had to be from the nipple in order to save it.
