£37,000 a week, Goldson's on.... just let that sink in... 37 grand A WEEK!!! It's an absolutely disgraceful state of affairs. And Tavernier, if you're gonna use the ifs & buts to say if he had other players bla bla bla.... well you can say it the other way too! If it wasn't him and it was Another right back Rangers had, then perhaps instead of just the 3 trophies in 9 years, then maybe it would have been 13 trophies.... You can't use that old BS about he was surrounded by sh*t players. As he actually DID have a whole new team around him, maybe as many as 3 more or less different starting 11s with him being the only common denominator. Well anyone of those players who were on those teams. The Jack's, Morelos's, Kents, Goldson's, could say the same about themselves.... if i had 10 other players around me i'd have won more.... Tavernier was the only one who DID get several reshuffles around him yet his luck still didn't change and it was him who was at fault for SEVERAL goals in big must win games & old firm matches. The goals he single handedly gave to celtic as well as other teams. Like the lazy pass back under zero pressure at all, at Parkhead that was so weak & lazy going back towards the keeper I think it was and celtic player just ran on & took it so easy & was one on one with the goalie to slot it the net. Then the several over the top above him, over his right shoulder. For him to panic, trying to get to it & celtic player or the other teams player is there to it first, outpacing him, then either scores or cuts it across/back for another to slot home. So let's stop with the romanticism the second he's got one foot put the door. Even if you somehow still think he was a great player, he's 33 in October ffs!! Well PAST his prime. Full backs & wingers reach their peak earlier than every other position & past their primes earlier. They lose pace around late 20s & it just keeps dropping from there. That's why most big clubs all have full backs & wingers in early to mid 20s then they sell them and replace them with new ones who are early to mid 20s. Unless it's an exception to the rule like a Roberto Carlos who was still at a huge club & playing for Brazil At 33 34 b4 retiring. But generally, clubs that are in title races & demands to win things have 22 23-26 yo wingers/FBs. They need to get up n down the whole pitch throughout the game it requires pace. Once it's gone, you're leaving big spaces for opponents to exploit. It doesn't matter so much in mid table or low table clubs, but at the top of their league clubs don't have that age.. . Well all except one... Rangers. (Up til this moment anyway)
