I think the issue is that T1 and T2 were movies of their time. T1 was a slasher in an era of slashers, where the villain was a computer and acted like it. T2 was an action film in an era of action films. They were a bit too successful, but didn't give much to go with. If the stakes kept getting bigger, focusing on protecting one or two people starts to feel ridiculous, as it did in T3 and T4. If you moved towards a more general plot about stopping the big evil bad guy, you move away from the core of the franchise which is about underequipped humans fighting an unstoppable enemy. T2 also stops any sequel potential, the T-800 is dead and so is Skynet, there's no way of moving forward without taking a dump on it. This wasn't built to be a huge franchise and it showed. Genisys was the most logical next step. It was a reboot designed to make the franchise be able to have sequels that made sense It sets up mysteries to be discovered, like who sent Pops back in time, or now this new transcendent Skynet now being harder to stop. It's basically designed to fart out sequels that make sense.

The script trying to cram three movies worth of content (2029, 1984, alternate 2017) into a single movie doesn't let any of the ideas breathe, and in the final section they introduce all these new ideas that are just excuses to have the exact same events happen again anyway. The T-3000 is the ultimate infiltrator, yet all the infiltrating he actually does is entirely offscreen, and using him as a generic Terminator in the same type of role as all the previous ones doesn't justify his existence; as it is, a T-1000 imitating John could have fulfilled pretty much the exact same role the "real" John does in this movie. Maybe that could have been a cool idea, a future war movie where a T-1000 uses its shapeshifting to infiltrate the Resistance and wreak havoc as it sabotages them.

People can say what they want, bur the sorrowful look in Arnold's eyes at 55 seconds. It is like "I'm sorry, John is gone" and "Don't you trust me, Sarah." 1:40 this is something that I always wanted to know, I only wanted a sequel to answer this problem, but all the people that hate it, and the critic, just killed the movie and reebot it for Dark Fate. That was a really nice touch for the story, to understand who send the T-800 to protect Sarah as a child, even John, the one that sends them didn’t knew, there could have been a third problem that could altered the Time Line.

This should have been the direction they took, imo. He's controlled but still largely human at the outset but every single time they fail to kill him, the nanomachines repair him and gradually take him over more and more. Maybe it wouldn't really help the story but I guess it could better establish why he suddenly has all the new moves he uses in the final battle.

One thing i noticed in this movie was that all the actors' faces were clean all the way to end. Unlike T1 where i could see the characters faces becoming sweaty, gritty and bloody, and we could feel the characters' struggle, the battle weariness, their exhaustion. I dont feel those when watching Genisys

@@MsAmber82 Qué esperabas si a Sarah la crió un Terminator desde niña? Y uno de los mejores puntos de Gensys es que Kyle y Sarah interactúan y no solo sea uno protegiendo a la otra que solo estorba. Y no hay chistes raros en toda la peli. La mayoria son en situaciones de comedia o cuando por escenario deben encajar. En la batalla del fin de Skynet no hay ningun chiste raro, en el reencuentro de la familia Connor-Reese tampoco, y puedo seguir. Lo último era ovbio. John Terminator era un modelo mucho mas avanzado y poderoso que simples T800 y 1000. Además Pops tiene información detallada sobre los otros además de cómo destruirlos, no tendría sentido darles mas tiempo en pantalla.
