RoboCop (2014): The Public Appearance of Alex Murphy and The Arrest of Thomas King

One of my favorite scenes in the RoboCop movie.
Norton alters his programming to make him more efficient by having drone programming take over his actions, but make him think they are his. This increases his efficiency dramatically, but also makes him less empathetic due to his human nature being bypassed.
Shortly before he is to be publicly unveiled, Murphy has an emotional breakdown, forcing Norton to remove his emotions. During the ceremony, RoboCop identifies and apprehends a criminal in the crowd.

"Let's do a major system change _just before_ he does a public event..." *That was really stupid.* They could have at least salvaged the situation by giving his family a version of the truth, explain to them that he's had a minor nervous breakdown when he saw footage of his own murder attempt and they've had to give him electronic sedatives. "We didn't realise how traumatic accessing his own file would be, he'll have to work through it and process the emotions, but in the meantime we'll be dampening them down so he won't have a breakdown. We all need to give Alex time, this is a major shock but he will come back from it. He's strong willed and he's got you both to live for. We'll keep you in the loop. But in the meanwhile we have to give the public the impression that he's fine. And between you and me, we don't want those that tried to kill your husband to know that he's accessed the data on the crime. It's safer to keep them off guard." And suddenly Alex's wife goes from a PR problem to a asset, helping them keep the situation under wraps.

Problem is if it wasn’t called Robocop, it’d be shit on even more so for being a blatant Wal Mart brand quality ripoff. The only real solution to this movie’s problems is that it never should’ve been made at all. Why Hollywood thought it was okay to do children friendly remake, of one of the most violent and brutal films ever, is totally beyond me.

I mean, it’s not well executed (though the actors do their best with what they have), but it’s playing on the old chestnut of “Middle-management and up have no effing clue how things actually work. And so make unreasonable demands of people and threaten to fire them if they’re not met.” Which is something anyone who’s worked in a large corp can understand. The head scientist said he wasn’t ready, but PR had made all the arrangements and everyone was already there, so on with the show!

Bob Morton and Dr. Norton has a great contrast to each other since they were both created RoboCop in th original and rebooted version. Bob Morton has kind of a bad boy lifestyle, taking some coke and hoes. Dr. Norton, on the other hand, was a humane scientist with strong beliefs. 4:56 Alex doesn't need to overthink. he let his AI technology do the work in scanning for threads while he uses his own eyes (plus his peripheral vision) and let the AI do the job to automatically scans for wanted criminals in his database stored. That's my theory in cybernetics.
