Goodyear, Goodrich, Firestone and Gates. The brand of tire sold at each particular dealer depended on the location and lease agreement. Same thing with other oil companies such as Texaco, Shell, Richfield, Sinclair, etc. Other brands sold their own "house brands" such as Mobil, Gulf, Phillips 66, Union 76; and Atlas tires were sold exclusively through Enco, Esso, American, Chevron and Sohio dealers - basically the pieces of the old Standard Oil trust.

Although full service gas stations are rare today, I would like to see one carry 4 brands of tires. I guess Gates is no longer around, but we know Goodyear, Goodrich and Firestone are. Michelin can be the 4th one at Conoco, Phillips 66 and 76 today.

The Gates company dropped tires to focus on fan belts.
