So even though there are tons of people supporting Dustin´s win, a good bit of it is overshadowed by Conor´s fans, because there is just such an abundance of them. I am a Conor fan myself (say what you want) but still respect Dustin´s win because he fully deserved it. However, people supporting Conor in this loss is no surprise. You ´re supposed to stand by whoever you support. Not talking about the people who are making excuses for Conor´s loss only people who genuinely want to see him back in action again. And for the casual fans who just support Conor no matter what, it kind of makes sense. Conor has emotionally united so many people and brought more eyes to the UFC and MMA in general. So, these people know no better. But it shouldn't be that big of a deal I'm sure Dustin is surrounded with lots of support and love, but he just doesn't bring much more than his fighting to the table. And sadly personalities in concjuntion with the skill of fighting creates fans and makes people interested in the sport. Not just being able to fight at a higher level. It tips off at a certain point and blinds certain people. And I'm not sure that really is a problem because more people are following the sport then ever before.

I’d be really interested to know more about the business side, where they hold off on Conor fights forever to build the intensity of demand - or at least that’s my impression. I think Conor was right about having cage rust. He looked a bit off from the moment he walked out. Belal Muhammad also said he thought Conor was trying to prove he was the best boxer, ostensibly because the possibility of a Pacquiao fight would do crazy numbers, which would fit will with the observation that Conor’s spread too thin. Conor’s not playing the same game as anyone else: he’s dealing with a higher magnitude of pressure and demands for his attention than everyone else. The good story we tell about Conor and his career also needs to include something about the changes in psychology that went with making $100M and the struggle to even be a fighter when you have forever money. It seems as if he might be in a process of deep soul searching in an effort to find authentic motivation... But the UFC better give him some fights sooner than later, because he needs that to keep the mental focus on being a fighter.

His cardio seemed fine. It's hard to move when your lead calf gets kicked and compromised frying the very first couple calf kicks. So if he seemed show or unresponsive, that's probably why. Both fighters have said this already. We Don't have to follow some narrative painted by these media types where Connor has zero gas tank and can only win in the first few seconds of any fight. Its basically saying Connor is better he just got tired. Poirier was better that night, end of story. His gameplan worked perfectly and he compromised Connors movement early. Connor doesn't need people making excuses for him. Just give Dustin his credit and stop talking about Kharma and this is what you get when this or that happens. Connor wasn't slow and he never said he was slow. He didn't check any kicks and he payed the price. That's probably what he meant when he said taking this much time of doesn't come without a price. Connor will be back and hopefully have an answer for those leg kicks. Hats off to Dustin.

I feel like everyone is missing one peculiar thing about this Connor and Dustin situation. Connor called out Dustin (by offering his charity money and acting all nice) wich was coincidentally a little bit after Khabib in an interview said that he will fight "ANYONE, EVEN CONOR" if they beat Dustin, those were his words. Khabib will not back down on these words, wich is why Connor will push to fight Dustin as much as he can...
@SwingingPythons3 жыл бұрын
When and where did he say such a thing? Conor will push to fight dustin because he knows he’s the better fighter and wants to prove it. Beating Dustin sure would have helped his chances of getting another shot at Khabib but it ain’t over.

Chael can you please break the fight for us in detail? I am no Mcgregor fan and I was hoping Dustin will win, but I really thought Conor was the better side until that shot in the second round that tripped him. If you were the judge the fight had ended at 2nd minute of round 2, what would be the score in your view?

Conor doesn't deserve an immediate rematch after getting his ass knocked out like that. Let him earn his way back up by fighting Hooker, Ferguson, or someone else from the recent losers bracket.

Apparently it had something to do with being left alone. One of Conor's coaches, Colyn Byrne, talked about how in Portugal you can apparently walk around town without constantly having fans asking for autographs and photos and stuff, even though they knew exactly who he was, because they would ask Colyn how training was going and if Conor liked being there. "They are respectful", he said. www.ufc.com/rankings

Poirier said in the pre-fight press conference to book the Lightweight Tournament. #1 seed (Poirier) vs. #4 seed (Chandler), #2 seed (Gaethje) vs. #3 seed (Oliviera). Easier said than done of course, because where does the belt fit into this, and I suppose McGregor has to fit somewhere in there. I just think it would be interesting to put both those fights on a card.

Chael you said something about Conor that DC also mentioned: he looked small in there compared to Dustin. We know that he has been cutting weight a different way - a "healthier way". The problem is that the way Conor cut his weight would mean he has less to gain after the weigh-ins than Dustin. Dustin clearly weighed more and that probably had a hand in allowing him to take Conor down - unconscionable really - being able to take Conor's best shots multiple times (altho Dustin foolishly admitted that Conor had him really hurt at one point - you could see it but I don't think that's something you want to let Conor know about if you're interested in a rematch), etc. The calf kicks were great but Conor might have finished him anyway if he just sized up with Dustin more evenly. Thoughts?
@ShepardOfficial3 жыл бұрын
I think you can find a somewhat legit excuse in every fight ever. Most just don't have the eyes and opinions like a Conor fight. I love Conor. But there was no fluke here. Conor got beat. He was caught off guard by those calf kicks and they told the story of that fight. Of course Conor has the ability to adjust, but he got beat. And that's the hardest thing to admit right now.
@jarislamecc3 жыл бұрын
I believe the takedown attempt was to give Conor something to worry about on top of the leg kicks. Dustin did everything right to beat Conor that night. That boxer-like stance didn’t help with checking the kicks either. At the post fight press conference Conor admitted he had trouble standing at one point in the fight.

Just wanna say up front Congrats Dustin and all his camp coaches fans family etc. Gotta love Dustins performance and attitude, and YES, I think you're on to something Jim, calf kicks aside if thats possible, not just because training regimens are everything for so many reasons, AND it was a different fight this time wasnt it?!....but YES Dustin was indeed bigger, and indeed styles always make fights whether its Boxing, MMA or f-ing chess.

The only reason I buy ring rust is watching old mcgregor fights and seeing him check those same kicks with just as good of timing as his left hand. I also think that even though it's awesome he's gone all family, that is a distraction come fight week. As far as where I'm at with Conner if he wins the trilogy? Honestly. Same place I'd be if he lost and same place I've always been. I'm a fan of his journey, his obstacles outside of the ring and in that's he's overcome. Man is a genius, and has the money to prove it no matter what his ufc record is.
