Y’all don’t give Conor enough credit. He was more than a fighter. He was a true martial artist. Combat not only with the hands but with the mind with this hyperability to read his opponents both psychologically and mentally in such great depth which he later uses to his advantage inside the cage. Love him or hate him, he was brilliant and we ain’t going to see anyone like him.. probably never again.

Conor 100% had more significant strikes to the head AND body, he WAS winning the fight just on damaging strikes alone. Not knowing how to check low leg kicks was the beginning of the end. Can't circle away from Poirier against the fence on a dead leg. Fan of both, but McGregor was definitely smacking Poirier up a bit in the first and early second, though not without Poirier usually countering.
@sadsixclone15123 жыл бұрын
@Nuffsed nah dustins main focus was on the calf kicks in the first round so it wasn't a sudden upset but rather a good game plan paying off. the first round leg kicks made it so that conor couldn't put any weight on his front leg which allowed dustin to pressure him into the back of the cage where he started to flood mcgregor with punches. dustin even took conors left hand and kept fighting due to that added endurance of 10 pounds. dustin was just the better fighter and had the better gameplan so I believe he wins this fight in every single timeline. TL;DR: dustin simply outclasses conor.

This video is a good example of why Conor has fallen, both in this fight and Aldo for example he talks about not being angry and that they are all blank faces and so on. Last fight vs Dustin, he was so angry that he couldn't even contain himself and tried to attack Dustin before the fight even started. The roles are pretty much reversed, and this is Conors biggest weakness now.

Conor back then was in his prime mentally and physically The last 3 years he has constantly been getting worse
@haraldarrow50462 жыл бұрын
@@domtoretto4657 He was in the best shape of his life for the second Poirier fight, he actively took measures to train far longer with greater discipline for the 2nd Poirier fight, and he still go knocked the fuck out. People attempt, in vain, to undermine the second fight with Poirier by appealing to how Conor wasn't entirely there. The same people making these types of excuses, people like you by the way, probably overlook the fact that Poirier, in their first fight, was heavily drained by the weight cut, mentally checked out due to the incessitant trash talk and fighting emotionally. If anyone had it worse, it was Poirier. Their second fight was the most fair competition, both men came in great shape and a lot of the weaknesses that Poirier experienced were alleviated, and Conor lost.

@@haraldarrow5046 he was in "the best shape" but he definitely wasnt as good at fighting as before and no one can argue with that
@haraldarrow50462 жыл бұрын
@@domtoretto4657 Even if that was true, however much that diverges from your initial claim, it still wouldn't bear the significance that you think it does. There isn't a tremendous discrepancy, the guy who fought Poirier wasn't astronomically different than the guy who fought Alvarez. In fact, according to Conor's own view, Conor was better than the version of himself when he fought Alvarez (I can give you a link to an article which screen captured Conor's tweet). Regardless, he lost to the better fighter, a version of Dustin that wasn't drained and mentally fatigued by Conor's antics.

Seems like Dustin used to have an issue with getting overly emotional during the buildup, & the fight itself. I truly believe that mellowing out, & letting his hair grow have turned him into an Elite fighter 😂

It’s called maturity and a mature person doesn’t get rattled by loud mouths, and Poirier definitely matured from their last fight
