I don't think it was quite frayed either that was an overstatement. Imo sometime who's mind is frayed would be unable to even walk out to the octagon. But he was probably just thinking too much about how this is gonna look if he loses rather than being in the moment. That's when Conor had the advantage and had him beat before a punch was ever thrown.

I think that’s what made old Conor so good. He’s get into his opponents head- it would make them angry and stiff- just charging at him from the start . Which is perfect for his style. All he needed to do was slip and rip his left- like he always did

Conor achieved everything he set out to do, had insanely massive highs and pretty huge lows. The run from ufc debut up to the Alvarez fight was insane, and I think the effect that kind of momentum can have is overlooked. After Floyd and the Khabib loss and personal dramas, It will be hard to reach that kind of peak again but I’d love to see it
