First, I love your videos and recommend them. Your presentation of information if fabulous. Second, I have a Standard Poodle. Standard Poodles love to be with their people. She also loves her back yard, but she was out their barking at anyone who walked by our see through fence. Many people encourage her by talking to her and visiting with her. Like I said, she loves people and other dogs. I realized that she was barking to get our attention to come out and share the excitement. She didn’t want to be out alone. So she is now only out for a few minutes at a time and to satifsy her desire to be outside with me, I take her for a second walk. She is so much happier. There is very little barking now and she is more relaxed in the house. I have had other dogs who were territorial barkers, so it took me a while to figure out that she was barking for company.

Good job putting the effort in and adapting to fit your dog's needs. That's the mark of a stellar pet parent!

This might be a niche subject, but it would be awesome if you could make a video geared towards friends of dog owners who don’t have dogs of their own. I often find myself babysitting or hanging out at a friend’s house and am not sure how to navigate an overly excited jumping dog or one that turns aggressive during a game of tug or one that bears it’s teeth when getting petted. In a perfect world the owners would be working on these issues but that is often not the case, especially with dogs jumping on me when I first enter their house. A lot of the videos assume you are the owner and can have a mini training session right in the moment if need be. It would be a social faux pas if, upon entering a friend’s house, I immediately started a training session with their jumping dog. By now you can probably tell that I am a cat person and am a bit clueless about what to do with the sheer amount of enthusiasm my friends’ dogs have!

That's a really interesting topic! I think it's definitely a useful thing to dicuss; it's something you'd have to really condense down to a few "power-tips" so you don't turn it into a whole "how to train a dog" thing. I'm going to chew on this a while and think it over. Thank you for this comment!

@@SimpawticoDogTraining Thank you for the reply! The simplest answer is probably that I should just use my words to tell my friends that they need to work on their dog's resource guarding/jumping! 😅

❤ found your page today, such useful information. We got a 2-year-old basenji mix about 3 months ago and are struggling with some aggressive play and leash walking. I look forward to doing my homework, PetSmart training has not been very helpful....😢

This is such an awesome, succinct video! Thank you! I see you're a CDBC now. I don't know when that happened, but congrats! Your video about testing for your CPDT helped me prepare for mine.

Thank you! I got the CDBC in the Spring of 2022. It was quite a process, holy smokes. But super rewarding! And I'm glad my CPDT video was helpful for you!

Great video! For my personal environment management, I have to keep the schedule of the school nearby in mind. Otherwise the dog might be triggered by noises/cars/kids.

Perfect example of routines and trigger control. Thanks for sharing!

Triggers -- any people/dogs/animals/motorcycles within sight... up to 300 yards away... bark bark bark. Mind you seven year old 13 pound Luke (chihuahua/Aussie mix) while aggressive on a leash to bigger dogs and some people does not actually bite (he may nip at pants or shoes)... he is trying to prove he is tough... to some people and bigger dogs... Off the leash and in the same side of the doggie park, he is very polite... and on the other side of the fence, he trash talks trying to get the big dogs to run the fence with him... and both he and the big dogs snap and show teeth and bark as they happily play on opposite sides of the fence... He really LOVES big dogs... just has a wierd way of showing it.

Help 😭 my dog keeps taking any chew toys/treats away to a spot (outside) instead of playing with it where I give it to her/by her bed. She is a stray /rescue , I have no idea what I’m doing and I want to get her checked up but she’s afraid of confined spaces! Your next zoom availability is over a month away which I still want to do but I’m worried about her in the meantime 😭 can you fit me in any earlier? 😭

Hello! Can you help with a dog that is not food motivated and seems to have isolation/separation anxiety? He’s a rescue, perfect behavior besides not being ok with being left alone 😢 cries and barks for hours in or out of the create. Otherwise he tolerates the create

It's hard to say because I can't observe how severe the response is, and I don't know what his baseline for being alone is. Might be something you want to loop in a local pro to help you sew up.
