Hi Kelly a really good video, but one thing to add is for those with skin "conditions" eg eczema, psoriasis, acne, rosacea etc, we have a permanently impaired or weak moisture barrier - it's just part of the disease process. As these are all chronic conditions that flare and ebb, sometimes the dehydration is worse than others as the moisture barrier is more deficient during those flares. I have both rosacea and eczema, with dry/mature skin that really doesn't produce any sebum any more. This probably means my own production of that cholesterol, ceramides and fatty acids is woefully poor. I have to use products to soothe and moisturise all year round and really up the layers during the colder months (Scottish winters can be really hard on my skin). We're also still wearing masks in indoor public places and although I never developed maskne, I did/do have much drier/irritated skin in that mask area if worn for a prolonged period of time. All that saliva/breath/humidity under occlusion is not something my skin is happy about at all. The enzymes in the saliva that breakdown our food can also contribute to the skin breakdown. it's a vicious cycle in many ways and I find amping up the layers can really help. I don't use the same thing every single day, but instead layer what I think my skin needs (or will tolerate) that day. Best wishes.

Kelly you are a diamond! I went to a dermatologist here in Scotland years ago for acne and they just gave me antibiotics. Thanks to you and and the information available I diagnosed myself with a damaged skin barrier (it was so bad, I mean damaged like it had been burned with fire) and your remedies and information have saved my skin. That's why I was getting adult acne and severe redness. Not because I needed an antibiotic. Thank you for being you and sharing all the information you do ❤️

i remembered back when i didn't know that i am prone to skin dehydration, i literally slathered myself with moisturizer and sunscreen with alcohol then wondered why my skin feels tight after a couple of hours despite having so much oil sitting on top of my skin. 😂 thank god i understand my skin better now. My favorite occlusive moisturizer is the Avene Xeracalm ad cream! It is mineral oil based and not only does it have an amazing cooling rich texture like a light fluffy cold cream, but it is also preservative free and made for the most sensitive skin. It works when my skin is at its most sensitive and is made for eczema skin. And it has tons of glycerin so it is also hydrating and occlusive. My HG for sure!

Hi Kelly as I’m getting older and dryer I’ve found that in shower post workout morning cleansing of more dehydrated body parts (including face) with Bioderma Atoderm cleansing oil (yes that huge vat with pump) is the best! Even my husband loves it for same purpose. Keeps our skin barrier shored up and more hydrated. I highly recommend for us sensitive types❤️

I love your videos and your advice has helped so many of us, but I feel they've been repetitive for a while now. Dehydration, barrier care, with the same products in every video. Some videos I'd love to see include: "revisiting an old favorite" series. I noticed the jin jun sung essence on your shelf and I know you used to like it, but I'd love an updated option and maybe a vs with it. Maybe a few times a year do a video where you try a skincare routine based on subscriber recommendations. More body care videos would be amazing. It seems like the next big thing, but there aren't many people talking about body serums, moisturizers, body washes, especially body sunscreens, etc. A video about how to repurpose old skincare products and make them last. I hope this wasn't offensive. A little more variety would be helpful for viewers with a variety of skin concerns.

This really settled my concerns about my dehydrated feeling skin. I've been wondering what I'm doing to cause it, but it is mild and there isn't any irritation or inflammation with it so I think it's mostly because of my dry climate! Definitely replacing my moisturizer with something more occlusive when I run out

Hi!! I just started watching your videos and I must say you have given me so much confidence in reversing my dehydration. It would mean the world if you could answer my two questions (and forgive me if I missed the answers in your other videos). How did you know once you started incorporating more barrier care products into your routine that they were working? How long did it take for the improvement to even start even if it was something as little as no irritation? I’ve been struggling with dehydration for months now focusing only on hydration without any barrier care. That changes today because of you!!

How important is the inclusion of barrier repair ingredients in solving dehydration/repairing the barrier? Do you think it would be possible to heal your skin without them?
@emilychung92162 жыл бұрын
Recently I'd realize my skin is very dehydrated. Thanks for the video as I do learn a lot from you. The only concern that I've using these recommended rich & fatty moisturizers is that it may cause breakouts on my nose (I'm T-zone skin type). Don't know why but my nose gets oily very easily. Once applied too rich cream/serum, I'll get breakouts the next day. I'm really frustrated cuz I do want to heal my damaged skin barriers so badly, but at the same time I worried it will cause breakouts when using such rich products on my face. What should I do????

Hi Kelly. Would you say it's better to layer the same toner multiple times or different toners still ok?💖
@valentinagalante43592 жыл бұрын
I do this but I think also Kelly has suggested it. Try two toners, a thin one followed by a oh so slightly richer one, however many layers of each based on wha your skin enjoys, chef’s kiss 😁 I usually also add something like laneige cream skin after surems, which is also super nice
@KellyDriscoll2 жыл бұрын
I don't think one is better, it depends on your budget and skin needs. I think layering up 1 toner until skin feels hydrated is main takeaway tip. But you can play around with different toners of different weights and see if you like the combo (I do think sometimes). The main thing I'd suggest is if you do use different products make sure they are different in terms of texture/how they make skin feel. Otherwise it's just a bunch of products, not intentional skincare building.
