“During your driving lessons you aren’t going to get hugely skilful, you’re going to get skilful enough to pass a driving test”. Nailed it. Thank you so much, Richard! I feel like my driving instructor wants me to aspire to being a precision driver (and makes me do methods for changing gears and for manoeuvres that are way beyond my realistic skill level). All it does is increase the amount of mistakes I make, which undermines my confidence, and leads to even more problems.

6/13/22 bite point: - car slows down a bit, up in pitch, rev goes up a lil bit smooth gear change: - diesel slows down a lot when u come off gas so it’s harder to change gear (petrol gives u more time) - don’t worry abt slowing down as a beginner (but u can practice: come off the gas slowly and maintain speed before pressing clutch down, adding bit of gas before coming off the clutch)
